no it's never happened to me
Guards have entered the house before when trying to arrest me and I go in there but I can't see how they could go in there when I'm not there. I have had a bounty of 40 for a while though which I only cleared today so maybe when there is a bounty on you guards will visit your known residents with murderous intent even if you're not there - Gladiator style.
You're right as Eyja never leaves and is either in the basement or the ground or first floors. Unless she was leading a double life behind my back and would venture out in my absence or have people visiting. I had to check out the UESP page as a reminder and this is interesting about City Swimmer in the notes section:
"Due to her low responsibility, it is not uncommon for her to be pursued by the guards and killed for pickpocketing".
I've seen other NPCs being attacked for no reason by guards so it must be due to a low responsibility on the target and in that scenario I can see the guards entering a building in pursuit. Whenever I visit Bravil from the north gate there can sometimes be a fight between a vagrant and guards in progress which results in the NPC being killed but I've seen the same fight resulting in death a few times now so that NPC must respawn. I wonder if I can increase his responsibility I can break the cycle.
Definitely and I never give guards trouble but if I do accidentially start a fight with them I'll reload rather than having to take them on. I also don't like to kill anything that isn't trying to kill me first but sometimes before I reload a game I'll attack a guard in the market district just for a laugh because they appear from everywhere and it's also a good way to test how my armour holds up while I've got 10 guards slashing at me.
I've done a lot in Oblivion but I've never become a vampire. I did once start to transition when I slept while infected but I reloaded. It would be something new to try though and I bet Eyja is delicious. I've got the Vile Lair DLC but don't visit there often.
Is it true that as a vampire you can't go out during daylight and if you become a vampire and then go through the process of ridding yourself of vampirism you can never become a vampire again?
In higher levels, If you start a fight in the palace district it's an easy way to level up armor skills by just letting guard mobs attack you. Shouldn't be anyone intresting there to get attacked either.
Is it possible to play as a vampire but a nice one and not incur any infamy points? Or can I reset imfamy to zero by doing the wayshrines quest as a vampire?
Cheers for confirming :) I'll try to get it configured
It sounded complicated but I read that and it was very easy to add the OBSE launcher to Steam and then take screenshots so thanks :) The FPS counter is also very useful so I'm keeping that on.

I'm not used to playing games with Steam running but it has a lot of advantages so are there any downsides to having Steam running while playing a Steam game? Can it impact performance or decide to start installing updates ingame and turn the FPS in to single figures?
Oblivion is added to your libary but it isn't connected to the servers in the same way. All you're doing is adding the overlay. No updates will install for this game. Meaning you'd have to add stuff manually. You can set this to allow downloads for other steam games or not in the settings though. Either global settings or game settings. Both work though game settings works over global.
Fps displays the actual FPS. So if it's saying 60. It's 60 fps. Not 6 with a 0.
