SecuROM won't let me reinstall it

Ok, i checked everywhere and can't find the solution...
I know this is Steam related stuff BUT I already have the game on CD and I get this message every time I try to install it:
This application is not compatible with the installed operating system or machine configuration.
Please upgrade to Windows 98SE, Windows 2000 or better. Certain virtual environments are not supported. See http://www.securom.com/message.asp?m=os&c=1000 for further information.

I tried compatibility mode, run as admin, etc...
If anyone could help me on this, it would be great since I have that problem about paying twice for something...

forgot to mention, I run on Windows 10 and the minimal requirements are not the problem

I had Oblivion GOTY DVD installed on Win 10. Added it to Steam games list using the 'other non-steam games' option.

That was before I bought the digital version. Try exiting Steam before you install. I was offline when I installed it. The securerom thing is a digital rights management protection thing. I don't remember having to activate either Oblivion or Fallout 3. You might also want to Google the problem.

you may have to add it to Steam as a non Steam game,i did find this

Select Sign a System File, navigate to C:\windows\system32\drivers and select SECDRV.SYS file. Click OK and restart your computer. When your computer restarts, start Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider again and turn on Test Mode. After you've done that, you should be able to run old games once again on Windows 10

I have the same problem. I own the Dvd complete pack, but I can only Install the main Game, but win 10 dont let me install the Addons.......... because of Securom......., hope someone know how to fix it?

yup, the comment from Evil Doctor Porkchop works. It's a pain, you have to download the SECdrv.sys driver and follow the instructions. It's a pain, but it takes about half an hour and it works

sorry that I only right it now, but it works now, I only installed other games first, because I had a new pcs and tested it today again and it works, I dont know if some other games installed something with it, some needed a older version from direct X for example...... no clues...... why it works no expert myself......
