Audio Issues
I'm having issues with audio in both Oblivion and Skyrim, both the same issue. And what's going on is I cant hear people talk when I am looking at them, but when I am turned away from them I can hear them. I find it really weird its doing it to both the Elder Scrolls games I have but nothing else. I also just recently got Oblivion but I've had Skyrim for a while now, but I recently got Oblivion during the sale, and Skyrim never really did it before but it started shortly before I got Oblivion, but now they both have the problem. Someone please help, I would love to fix this so I can play the game.

I have this too. What you have to do is go to control panel, hardware and sound, manage audio devices, tap speakers (the option that outputs sound), configure, then just go through all the options and make sure only front left and right are activated.

In other words, your sound is currently set up for Surround. You need to set it to Stereo.

You do not have a proper center channel speaker and your system is set to 5.1, so the voices are not audible. You have two options to fix the problem.

Either set your speaker configuration to stereo mode or disable the center channel speaker so the voice track is redirected to the front speakers.
