Stutter/freeze

Got oblivion earlier on sale. Started playing and I get slight stutters/freezing when i run around or fight a enemy. Iv looked into it and the last posts mentioning it were years a go now but a few people had various fixes that have not worked thus far.

My specs are
i5 6200u
16GB ran
Nvidia Geforce 970m

More than powerful for the game i have remastered skyrim and GTAV all running perfect amongst others.
I see mention of editing the .ini file to allow the game to use more than one core. Im hesitant to do this. Has any one managed to find a solution??

I believe the solution is to just remove the "fight" music all together. Like somehow the game has a problem with switching between passive music and just... any other music. It'll still stutter but absolutely not as bad as every single time you encounter an enemy. That's what I've read so far when I was trying to get it working a while ago. I dunno, maybe there's a better fix.

Well guys its still happening XD iv tried near everything i can thing of apart from MGuia codec thing but my friend has the exact same laptop and doesnt have this issue

First thing first : Oblivion is an old game, that will only use 1 core of your CPU. It will get most noticable in outdoor battles or when there is too many people around(Imperial City market district).
I assume you are using mods like 99% of Oblivion players. Download and install OBSE from oblivion nexus, than download and install OSR(Oblivion Stutter Remover). Copy it into game directory/Data/OBSE/Plugins and run the game once and exit it. You should have .ini file near your .dll file now. Edit .ini file and change your maximumFPS from 30 to 60, change your minimumFPS from 10 to 60. Enjoy game with a lot less stutter.
NOTE : This does not always work for everyone.

Hi,
after 12 years I finally finished Morrowind and jumped right into a highly modded Oblivion. I'm using Levis Mod Pack Oblivion Remastered 2020. Don't want to uninstall single mods, I love em all.
The only thing that dampens the fun is the stuttering in all the city areas. I already tried everything the Internet has to offer (much of it a little dated), but the only thing that helped me up till now was the MinFPS 10 and Max FPS30 in the Oblivion Stutter remover. It let's me run through the cities in Real Time ;-)

Now I got to love the 60 FPS everywhere else in the game, so here my rather specific question:
Is it possible to assign 30 FPS to City Areas and 60 FPS to everywhere else without stopping to play? A script or something?

Suggestions are very welcome; and if you have the 2020 solution to a fluid 60FPS everywhere Oblivion, I won't say no.

Hey,

tried the stuff in here, wasn't the Sound bug or Min/Max 60FPS. And you were right btw, it aint Oblivion without the music XD but also no TES without the CTDs

my specs are:

Graphic: GeForce GTX 1660TI
RAM: 16GB RAM
CPU: I7-4390K
Mainboard: ASUS Rampage IV Black Edition
Windows 10

I love the game so far, Min10/Max30 FPS works, just the city FPS is a pain. Now there's this new crash to desktop everytime an assassin attacks me in the city and starts drinking a potion. ^^"

But I kill em before they drink the stuff XD Probably the Imperial Legion mod, that let's you arrest criminals. It's so much fun XD

let's see what happens next. any ideas on the script (or the assassin potion crash)?

EDIT1: I changed the heap in the Stutter remover ini from 6 to 2 (it's the windows one of all things ^^") and suddenly, relative fluid movement and NO crashes ... for now.

EDIT2: the CDTs are back. I'm cycling the heaps depending on the Situation, but Skinguard is taxing the engine
