I will share with you the secret to immortality in Oblivion,
After finding this trick out I NEVER die

Join the Mages Guild, OR have the Frostcrag Spire DLC

Level Alteration up to 100 -> Make a shield 85% for 60 seconds spell (If you find yourself needing more mana, Oblivion gates after level 26 can drop sigil stones that enchant equipment with +50 magicka), 85% is the maximum shield you can get, anything higher is a waste of magicka as it hard caps. Then, around level 15-20 I believe you start getting a random chance for enemies to drop Mundane Rings which give 50% magic resistance, if you're the Breton race you only need 1 to boost yourself to 100% magic resistance, 2 if you're a non-breton. Then to top it off make yourself any good restoration spell, as you won't take any magic damage but can still take physical damage with the game's cap.

What is op? Custom Spellcasting.

In Skyrim, it was Custom Enchanting and Alchemy interacting [the afore-mentioned 'resto' glitch] that was the most OP thing. You could make a weapon do enough damage to wrap around the 32-bit number limit [so the game would say it did 'negative 2 billion and something' damage], and enchant your armour to make spellcasting cost 0 magicka, give 100% resistance to magic and increase carrying capacity by thousands of pounds. Was quite silly.

In Oblivion, there is limited enchanting, and its not tied to a skill. Alchemy magnitude is capped moreso in Oblivion [though it is a lot easier to increase], and there's no fortify spell magnitude effect.

But instead of Custom Enchanting, there's Custom Spellcasting. At 100 Skill, ANY spell effect of 100pts magnitude for 120 seconds can be created at a Custom Spellmaking Altar, with the only caveat being magicka cost.

With 100 restoration, its possible to create a feedback loop of magicka/attribute buffing spells, such that for a certain time a character can have a stupidly high supply of magicka that regnerates almost instantly, and thereafter cast a plethora of Custom spells restricted only to 100pts for 120 seconds. This includes Shield [max 85% damage reduction, as mentioned above], Chameleon [100% Chameleon = basically god mode], Fortify Attribute [With no limit], Resist Magic [100% resist magic = magic immunity], etc.

I documented the Procedure here:

There's also Weakness to Magic/Fire/Frost/Shock spells in Oblivion, which if combined can amplify each other, resulting in targets becoming 1000+% weak to elements and taking ridiculous damage from fairly mundane spells.

That can be found here: [Levels 12-16 Chapter]:

There's also stealth archery. And Sigil stones.

Were you looking to avoid the flavours of OP in Oblivion? Or embrace them? :P
