The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition (2009)

OBSE DOESN'T WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dudes, i've tried everything. Reinstalled, used the supposed "steam version". Ignored it, used the steam files. Turned on steam overlay. Uninstalled all mods. Reinstalled some but left others. Reinstalled again.

This dam thing refuses to work.

Are you trying to launch it from a program other than from Steam? It clearly says to launch it FROM Steam.

I encountered the same problem when I was in my early stages of using/making mods.
It's being launched from Steam. I've checked the steam files.
I've tried the loader. I've deleted the loader.

Nothing.

Did you check the readme file inside the OBSE folder? You need to drag and drop a handful of .dll files and such into your main directory. Looking up YouTube videos also helps with getting the nitty-gritty down with modding.

This comes straight out of the obse_readme file:

IF YOU ARE USING THE STEAM VERSION OF OBLIVION:

1. Copy obse_1_2_416.dll, obse_editor_1_2.dll, obse_steam_loader.dll and the Data folder to your Oblivion directory. This is usually "C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\common\oblivion".
2. Ensure you have enabled the Steam community in-game, or OBSE will fail to load. Go to Steam > Settings > In-Game and check the box marked "Enable Steam Community In-Game".
3. Launch Oblivion via Steam or by running Oblivion.exe. OBSE will automatically be run along with Oblivion when launched. To disable this, rename or move obse_steam_loader.dll. You do not need to use obse_loader.exe unless you are running the editor.
1. They were already in the zip

2. It's always enabled

3. I'm doing that, Oblivion works, OBSE doesn't.

Did you unzip it in a seperate folder then move the contents into the following directory?
Steam > Steamapps > common > Oblivion

That's what I did and it works completely fine for me.
(All I did was move EVERYTHING from the obse folder into the main Oblivion directory.)

Yes. It doesn't work.

I tried turning steam overlay on and off, and OBSE isn't even registering as being on.

Just tried the Fallout Vegas script extender... works fine, 0 issue.

Your Oblivion folder should look like this:
https://gyazo.com/fe574c34aa0f07bea87ff25dd8f38eb0

The highlighted folder (src) is a folder related to OBSE.

Yep, nothing.

I don't understand, i 've had Oblivion with mods installed many times over, no issues.

Now, it just refuses to work. Doesn't seem to be any definable reason why.

What mod manager are you using?
gruengruen Mar 14, 2017 @ 1:51am
first download the oblvion mod manager.!
second open the program and look at the botton of the program and click install obse
and everything is solved
Just download the RIGHT modmanager. nexus mod manager is good for skyrim but omm ist better for oblvion or just use wayne bash.

https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/forums/showthread.php?53781-Playing-Oblivion-Modded-2017-edition-removing-the-hate look at this guide it will explain all in greater detail.
It seems the problem is the installation path of the game itself.

On other drives, it's showing the mods as activated, but they aren't, and are half broken because of OBSE not working.

Changing drive (so far) seems to have helped.
If the game does not boot and gives you an error code boot from steam and if you put it in the data folder put in the Oblvion folder.
My freind, the problem was the install location.

Even then, the game is a mess with mods installed, crashed all over the place.

I just stripped it down and play almost vanilla now, mods for Oblivion are more work than fun.

I've had more fun than work with mods for Oblivion, and I MAKE the majority of my mods.
