great sigil stones

ok,i am at the point in the game where martin tells you that you have to let them open a great gate at bruma and get the great sigil stone....when describing it,he says that the great sigil stones are only used to open the great gates,like the one at kvatch....my question is,if the gate at kvatch was a great gate,and was opened with a great sigil stone,and i closed the gate at kvatch...wouldnt i already HAVE a great sigil stone??? the one i got from kvatch??? huge plot hole man...just bad

A series of gates opened at Kvatch, just like at Bruma, one of which was a Great Gate. That was long gone by the time you got there.
