I apologize in advance for not having nifty links available, but these all should be available upon the Nexus. Generally, the mods I tend to recommend will be game enhancing without being game altering. To begin...

1. MiniMap by Kyoma - It's just what it's name implies. It places a mini map on your screen.
2. Custom Autosave v 1.0 bySky6a - It's an autosave, very configurable via .ini file. Sanity saver!
3. Harvest [Flora] by Quarn and Dejunai - Makes the plants you harvest for alchemy change visibly, so you know what you've harvested. Another sanity saver.
4. Spell Delete and Item Remove by Troybayliss - Use the delete key and away they go!
5. Clearer Underwater by Dyfed_99 - Clears up the underwater "fog" and makes swimming enjoyable. Now you can have fun with that enchanted water-breathing ring!
6. Children Of Cyrodiil by Emma - Yes, it's kind of a funny concept, but I thought it was really surprising how much this mod added to the game's atmosphere.

O.k. with those aside the next couple recommendations are rather "cheaty", but I use them pretty much always...

7. Q Carrying Capacity by asQarne - It has 4 .esp files of which you choose one to increase your encumbrance by 2, 5, 10, or 20. I find that x2 is usually enough.
8. No Psychic Guards by Talonhoff - Reduces the distance by which the guards detect you. Avoid the insane asylum mod for rogue-types!
