This game is everything wrong with indie horror
I'm gonna go on a huge tangent here, but it needs to be stated. Ever since the release of Poppy Playtime, indie horror games have been on the brink of creative bankruptcy. Fun and innovative horror games are being outcast in favor of bland mascot horror game featuring a marketable character you can use to exploit buyers and get rich. Every mascot horror dev has this mentality that they are gonna be the next FNAF and drop merch (and occasionally NFTs) the moment their game is a success. Not to mention that they always release their games unfinished, promising another chapter that will force people to wait months just to access the next portion of the game. PP is the most ridiculous example, as they announced merch, NFTs, a multiplayer game, a sequel, and even a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ MOVIE, all within a few days after releasing chapter 1. While this game doesn't go as far, it still sadly follows PP's footsteps. Not even 24 hours after it released and it already has a sequel and a merch store. What makes this extra sad was that it looked more promising than PP. The devs are literally just two dudes, and the horror in this game definitely subverted my expectations, However, this merch store just shows that even a group as small as two people can still get greedy and go overboard on merchandising. This trend of "mascot horror" needs to stop. We need indie devs who actually care about making a horror game, and not use the same ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ formula that is plaguing indie horror at the moment. Mascot horror needs to die.

Thank you, it's an honor.

What happens when youtubers are too busy chasing trends and trying to find the next big cash grab instead of actually playing the big horror games new and old that are actually scary.

Imagine if those same people online promoted games like Silent Hill 1-4, or even smaller games like Lost in Vivo. Although that would obviously be less marketable to kids, which as we all know is what horror is really about lol.

The difference with poppy playtime is that it’s scary, Garten of BanBan is not

Small correction, but now agree.

"We need indie devs who actually care about making a horror game". These devs are not in short supply. There's no lack of horror games being made. Even if you discount all the AAA horror games, you need only go on itch.io to see literally hundreds of new horror games being made each month.

You're just mad these games are popular at the moment, at literally no detriment to your own life or gaming experience. You're basically behaving like a hipster, or some old person who hates anything new and mainstream.

Do I prefer quality horror experiences? Of course. And that's where I put my money. But this was a free game demo, who the hell complains about free things? Someone who likes complaining just for the sake of it.

Poppy Playtime is not scary, not even a little bit. If you honestly think that its scary than there is something seriously wrong with you.

I don't think "mascot horror" necessarily has to die so much as bad kiddie horror games do. "Mascot Horror" just means you have a recognisable character in a horror game. Pyramid head from silent hill is a great example of mascot horror. Everybody knows him! Same with Tyrant from resident evil.
Since now there's a Graten of Banban and it's like a Mascot Horror then I'm cetain that it won't be long until there's some cringey videos of Garten of Banban popping out on YT kids. Like gametoons is a perfect example. One of the contents they mostly make are those cringey "backstories/origins" of PP characters, rainbow friends characters... I'm still mad about the animation being lowkey good. These people could be better but they just waste all the stuff on useless ♥♥♥♥.

Pyramid Head is definitely not that.

Every other time he appears in a game other than 2 makes no sense since he was made specifically to tie into 2 and nothing else.
