Morrowind Overhaul Does Not Detect My Morrowind Install
I get the error "No, Morrowind files are missing. The .exe file is missing. No, both the expansions are missing." I have confirmed I have the .exe and expansions working and in my install folder, and it is all in order and working completely.

Two things: Make sure you extract the overhaul installer to the same directory morrowind.exe is in and run it as administrator.

Hi, I'm new here. That said, I can express my true feelings...AAAAHHHHhhhhh! It's taken a dozen hrs of installs & uninstalls, upgrades & searches, learning that the Impulse version of Morrowing GotY doesnt like the 3.0 overhaul! So, I bought one here, & after 3 attempts to resolve a snag, I'm about to throw in the towel & throw up! EXCEPT...I love Morrowind. I miss her so much that I packed, got full of anticipation, & the plane wont leave the runway!! WHHHAAaaaa....sniff. What am I trying to say here? I press the exeOptimizer button & it says that Morrowind (& exc) is not found/installed?! To choose/find the file? The set-up said that it would launch the Optimizer & that I would be 'warned' when I would need to do something. Warned? Hmmmmm. What? So, now I've spent more HOURS looking for (patching, relaunching etc.) this elusive "Morrowind" file & can't find whats up?! OMG It feels like a joke! PLEASE, someone help (in step by step easy morons language please). My computer meets ALL reqmts. Thanks!

Thank you all for your help, I don't think I'd have figured it out without it.

For those who have this issue, the MO file has to be in ... steamapps/common/morrowind. Not in a folder, the files themselves.

Hi all. Please make sure you did all as written above AND when the installer asks you to disable UAC, do NOT do so. Just leave it on. The installer will warn you not to do so but ignore that warning.
Windows will not start unpacking the zip files if you disable UAC -> mod will never install.

If Morrowind is NOT installed in the C:\program files (x86)\steam\ ... etc. subdirectorry, UAC on/off never becomes an issue. I simply installed ALL Steam games in a directory something like C:\games\steam\ ... etc. This may also be installed on an external HDD or SSD.
