Ebony
I found a lot of raw ebony. I understand that later in the game a guy can make me ebony armor. Should I sell the ebony (lots of $$$$), or save it? Can ebony armor otherwise be bought, or found?

Reminds me of dragon bones in Skyrim. I was saving all these bones, I had tons of them, in the notion that later in the game I would make dragonplate with them. I friend saw it and told me, what are you saving all those bones for? You won't need so many anyway, and besides, you'll keep finding dragons all the time. So I sold my big stash (it took looong to carry them in manageable portions).

If I plan to save the ebony, might as well leave it where I found it and come back when and if I'm ready to use it.

I would just sell it. You can usually just kill someone for the armor.

There are several npcs that use partial sets of ebony armor which usually excludes the helmet and shield. There is a vampire named Mastrius in Salvel Sancestral Tomb that uses ebony armor. He is part of a Vampire quest for Spellbreaker, but you can kill him at anytime if you don't plan to be a vampire.

You can also find some ebony armor in certain houses and in the vaults in Vivec.

If you have Tribunal, Gaenor will use a full set of ebony armor a couple days after you talk to him. He is usually the best way to get ebony armor and you also get a nice amulet with constant Luck 15, although he isn't easy to beat.

The same goes for raw glass. You can just sell it. You can find a nearly complete set of glass armor on Voruse Bethrimo's body in Dagoth Ur. The monsters inside are very powerful though so be careful. I suggest using the boots of blinding speed and just run through. Make sure you save your game.

You can also get a near full set of Indoril Medium armor from an NPC who is lying dead outside Kogoruhn.

No, just don't bother. You are right, there is a guy in the Tribunal expansion that can make Ebony and Glass armor by giving him the respective minerals, but you need a lot of them and you also need to pay him a LOT of money.

Be aware there is no such thing as a full set of Indoril armor, they have no greaves, there is a Vampire in a Dwemer ruin north of the West Gash that uses ebony armor, a good thing to keep in mind is that the more exotic items tend to be in Daedric ruins and those old Fortresses.
