The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

The Nerevarine
I need some counsel regarding being the Nerevarine. I've reached the point where I have to make the tribes declare me nerevarine and the houses hortator. That in itself seems quite overwhelming since I don't even know where to begin. But my main worry is if I'm zipping through the main quest too fast, since there are still a lot of towns I've never seen, dungeons I've not explored, etc. I don't even know what the houses really are (haven't joined one or done anything for them, or for that matter the Imperials or the temple). I haven't really gotten too far in any guild and my level is 13. That Ashlander chieftain implied that if I wanted to finish any business I should do it first, like once I declare myself Nervarine everyone will be my enemy, like this is the end stage of the game. Some general pointers would be welcome.

Morrowind is open ended so even when you do beat the main story line you can still do everything you left out. If you haven't done anything for the temple then it wont matter if you choose to be the Nerevarine since you cant do anything with them after that point until to progress further. & not everyone will hate you. Otherwise it'd be impossible to complete.

Thanks for the insight. However, finishing the main quest kind of sours of the rest of the game, at least that happened to me in Oblivion. I already saved the world so what's the point of helping this farmer find his cow, sort of. I think I'd rather finish most of the world before finishing the main, given the choice. But then I might find myself in the contrary position, where finishing the main quest has almost lost its incentive. Gaaaah!!!! Too many choices. Starting with, "which attributes and skills should I choose at start?" It's even harder in this game than in Skyrim and Oblivion. I love it, but it scares me. :-)

The only people who hate you after you're declared Nerevarine are the Temple and the Great Houses; they don't attack you or anything they just don't let you join or do quests for them. You can still do the Fighter's Guild, Mage's Guild, etc, when you're Nerevarine.

Tel'vanni don't care, I don't think Hlaalu does either. Redoran do but that is because they are closely aligned with the temple. I always try to complete at least one guild per character before I complete the main quest. You are not close to the end of the main quest and a god you meet along the way will suggest that you go questing to prepare for the final battle. I always try to be at least level 25 before embarking on my journey to the final battle.

Also, Tribunal and Bloodmoon (if you have them) have quests of thier own that are appropriate for someone who has completed the base games quest. Also hunting for artifacts never gets old.

Don't worry after you are Nerevar (which will take some time because that quest is massive) only the Temple will be really hostile to you. This means you can not progress any Temple Quest and Ordinators will attack you on sight. However you just need to finish the next short part of the Main Quest (meeting somebody) and then things will be back to normal. Also then the Main Quest ist still not over.
