But the point of the game isn't to beat it, it's the journey. This isn't a sports game where the point is to beat your friend. This is a story, a world, and you are meant to experience that world. And if you take advantage ot exploits and loopholes to skip the whole game, that's cool but it says absolutely nothing bad about the game.
Yes indeed, one could speed run through Morrowind in 7 minutes...
Just like one could speed run through Fallout in 10 minutes.
Just like one could speed run through Fallout II in 20 minutes.
Just like one could speed run through Baldurs Gate in 35 minutes.
Just like one could speed run through Half-life in 30 minutes.
Just like one could speed run through Quake in 15 minutes.
Just like one could speed run through Dues Ex in 90 minutes.
Just like one could speed run through Icewind Dale in 50 minutes.
Speed running doesn't take any 'wind out of the sails', it's something people do so they could get a sense of achievement for finishing a game the quickest way possible. It's a competitive race that has been practiced by the gaming community for years.
In no way does a speed run resemble the actual time needed to finish a game.
These runs requires one to know a game inside out; they probably wrecked up 100th of hours to be able to make a run like this.
There is a clear difference between 'beating' a game and 'speed running' through it.
It's like comparing the experience of someone traveling around the world by foot with someone having done the same by plane;
The one travelling by foot witnesses nature, countries, cultures, traditions and his travels last for months whilst the only thing witnessed by the one travelling by plane is the free Jack Daniels thats handed out during the flight, his travel lasting less then a day.
Some people might feel jaded at spending hours playing when the actual solution can be acheived in 7 minutes. Not all gamers are about "the journey".
I pointed out the ability to speedrun through it, but I also complimented the game.
Seems people that like to stop and smell the roses don't actually stop and see the details. Y'all speedran through my darn post! LOL
Morrowind is pretty cool. And brown. So very brown. Another good brown game? Quake 2. That game took brown to whole new levels.
