However, the Gravedigger has 7200 health, so that's going to take a while.
NPC's don't get birth signs, but he does have 2 special abilities:
Royal Resistance
Resist Fire 100%, Resist Poison, Frost, Paralysis and Shock 50%, Reflect 50 pts.
Royal Blood
Fortify Attack, Long Blade, Heavy Armor and Block 50 pts.
Your spell will also only affect 1 piece at a time, in the following order: Shield, Cuirass, Left Pauldron, Right Pauldron, Left Gauntlet, Right Gauntlet, Helm, Greaves, and finally Boots.
Apparently there's a glitch that makes the spell ineffective if it has any duration, so I crafted a spell with a one second duration only. It still won't work. I still have no idea what's going on.
Looks like you may need to get the Morrowind Code Patch to fix that.

- Disintegrate fix. Fixes the Disintegrate Weapon magic effect, which was causing no damage to weapons in full condition.
The Gravedigger does have some damage on it though due to him attacking me the whole time. After I count over 70 legit hits from my spell (I count the number of times an orange explosion appears around his body), I get fed up and kill him and there's about 2k damage on it. If the glitch doesn't also apply to disintegrate armor, it wouldn't explain my issue with Divayth Fyr.
Fixes disintegrate over time effects applying a reduced amount due to rounding errors, by silently converting all disintegrate effects into instant effects.
My initial spell was 100 points over 3 seconds. I don't see how a rounding error could account for it being completely ineffective. I then created a 100 points for 1 second spell and it still didn't work.
