Disintigrate armor/weapon not working?

Im trying to use Disintigrate armor and weapon on self to see if i can use it to farm armorer, though for whatever reason, even when successful, the spell does absolutely nothing. My durability is unaffected and i receive no debuff regardless of duration.

Could be possible it just doesn't work on self.

Try blasting some armoured NPC with it a bunch of times, then kill them with magic or the console (not weapons ) and see if their armour is damaged afterwards.

I tested the basic version of both weapon and armor eater that you get from training the spell, and neither of them seem to do anything to any NPC's. Im not sure why this spell doesnt seem to work at all. I have a high enough destruction in order for the spell to work

It doesn't do much damage compared to the HP of most armor and weapons. Armor damage also hits your pieces in a specific order, starting with the shield. The last thing that can mess up using it on yourself is resistance - IIRC, it is affected by Magicka Resistance, so if you have that at 100%, it won't do even the piddly 100 pts or whatever.

there is a bug causing it to only work on equipment that is already damaged, when cast on self

after briefly trying the code patch, it mentions the disintegrate effect being bugged and not working at all on undamaged equipment
