A stupid and lazy man's question for modding
As with everyone else here I'm a big fan of Morrowind, been playing since I was in my teens on the original Xbox.

These days when I play on my PC, I use the MGSO 3 Graphical Overhaul for the game, the reason I do this instead of modding it through OpenMW, Mod Organizer 2, Nexus and etc, is because the installation of MGSO 3 is fairly streamlined and automated. I found a 10 minute video on YT that said "click these buttons on this prompt" and that was all I had to do. I didn't have to create new folders, move things around, adjust any settings, move any files around or download any additional mods. It was one .zip that I had to unpack and then it did virtually all the work for me. I like this because, in earnest, I can't be bothered. I haven't the time, energy or drive to put the effort into really taking a few hours to mod a game to my liking. I would just like someone to be like "Here's what I did, take this file." or something along those lines.

Is there, or is anyone working on, a single file/program that will do all the nuance for me? I've not found any videos when I search YT that haven't required extra input or the downloading (sometimes hundreds of mods/files), merging and stabilizing of this mod with that mod using OpenMW or a Mod Organizer 2. Not to mention, many of those videos I find for this are 30 to 40 minutes in length and seem very technical, with the altering of this .txt file and the moving of these .exe's to this file to do that to this to blah blah beyond me and my level of understanding. MGSO 3 was brain off easy.

If not, would someone mind possibly linking a good tutorial video for the current builds of OpenMW and or Mod Organizers, or whatever people are using these days; that a man who is far too burnt out and stupid, might be able to follow? I would appreciate any constructive input.

TLDR; I'm too lazy and stupid to do much but click "allow changes", any comprehensive programs/guides that will do the work for me or make it idiot proof?

Also, additionally what I find confusing is that they start mentioning things like MGXSC MGE EX Q2 V. 1.3.3.14 kind of things in all the videos I've found too, I have no idea what any of that is or how to find/use it.

MGE is a tool graphic extender, improving old engine, like increasing view distance, sunrays, etc. There are ~3 tools for vanilla engine. Overall for your situation the best is fullrest repack (works with openmw(better perfomance and stability) and vanilla(better graphics and gameplay, qol mods), both already included, only need to select your approx pc power) or rebirth https://youtu.be/5oyvT5QDuh0 need a little bit of work.

I appreciate that info, thank you. The video in the comment is broken though, could you post the link to it by chance?

Well I can't really help you out with an instant file that will run all the mods right now but it might be interesting to keep track of OpenMW, the next version that will be released probably at the end of the year and will make modding the game a lot easier.

The current version I am using requires me to add code / txt manually to implement my mods and folders etc.
The new version will have a mod manager of some kind integrated, allowing click & install like most are used to, that along with following a mod guide list here: https://modding-openmw.com/

Hopefully when the new version is released you can install a collection of those mods with a single press of a button like you can do with mod collections on Nexus.

Sorry I can't make it easier for you today but in the near future Modding Morrowing using OpenMW will hopefully get really easy :)

Its already easy, there is mod for MO2 to transfer all installed mods in openmw.
Unfortunately MGSO has many problems and you will most likely run into crashing, corrupt files and corrupt saves. I used to be like you and I liked the convenience... But I got about 24 hours in and the save got worse and worse til I gave up.

I've spent the last two months playing with OpenMW and it's been stable. That's around 110 hours of gameplay. I haven't crashed once. It looks great, 1080p res with some graphical changes like lovely water and the ability to get rid of the fog.

My advice:
Experiment with modding.
It's awesome to do if you branch out from the basics.
I found Skyrim really easy to mod, but trying to mod Oblivion gave me a headache. Morrowind has been casual and I've just used a few things like MGSO and OpenMW. But MGSO is a disaster watiing to happen, as appealing as all the content is.

I've played, and heavily modded MW from the CD version. Using Wyre Bash. Recently, tried openMW. Followed all directions. Plays fine. NowI want to add some mods...

Now I install the Wyre Bash version for openMW. Follow directions exactly. Maybe I'm dumb. But Wyre for OpenMW doesn't see the file it wants. I see it in explorer - and the path is correct. My advice - if you want to mod MW - don't use openMW. Until they fix this glaring issue. {no interest on MO2}

Wyre Bash is not compatible with OpenMW if you mean Wyre Mash for OpenWM then it works fine.

Yes, very aware of distinction between openMW and non-openMW itinerations of Wrye...

I am referring to OpenMW-0.47.0-win64.exe Every time I try to install it - it 'fails' to find "openMW.cfw" even thought I see openmw.cfw in explorer, in the folder. I have accurately and correctly designated path for OpenMW-0.47.0-win64.exe install dialog window as location. So, install repeatedly fails at that stage of install. Therefore - doesn't work.

And yes, I've already run OpenMW and played Morrowind past the excise office, so openMW.cfw is already initialized, as per OpenMW-0.47.0-win64.exe install directions.

Left nice/friendly/note on nexus page long ago - no replies / no help.

I'm not lazy at modding (not intending to hijack thread) but really stymied... at wits end.

I suggest that you take this issue and report it on the openmw discord troubleshooting where you can get help from the openmw team as this might be an issue they can track and fix for you.

All of this talk is exactly the kind of cloud speak that's over my head. Hijack away, it kind of solidifies my point.

Yeah, I feel the same way, when first exposed to a 'new' modding environment. Thx for understanding. :)
