The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

Would anyone recommend Morroblivion?
Morrowind is my favorite video games. I liked Skyrim a lot but I really wasn't into Obilvion all that much, although I would be willing to give it another try I just felt like it did more things wrong than right.
I've been in the mood to play another TES game lately and Morroblivion just felt right. Can anyone recommend it coming from a love for Morrowind and not Oblivion?

You know it was never finished right? And now it's abandoned in favor of Skywind.

They released a patch December 28th...

I saw something you posted in another thread, deterring me from it. I didn't realize that it was pretty much made for the people that didn't have the patience for Morrowind after playing Oblivion/Skyrim. Very sad indeed.

No. I recommend you enjoy Morrowind on it's own for now. Wait for Skywind or OpenMW. I've heard Morroblivion is incomplete and buggy.

I'm confused how Tamerial Rebuilt works. I heard they have three of the seven or eight maps done but they're not connected? So do we just have three more floating islands around Vvardenfell now?

EDIT: I've been playing Elder Scrolls for at least the past ten years and I've never heard of Nehrim, I think I'll give it a try.

I played through Morroblivion.
-Some of the quests didn't work
-The UI is terrible
-Enchanting is broken
-Bringing items inbetween the two worlds by boat causes a lot of balance issues

That said, I had a ton of fun with it. Exploring Morrowind with the revamped graphics was a blast. (although I hate, hate, HATE how the character models look in oblivion. Potato headed dimwits)

If you have played and beat Morrowind already, and played skyrim, it's my opinion that there's not a lot of reason to play Morroblivion. If anything, just mod the living hell out of Morrowind. I think mods that improve Morrowinds natural art style look better than the mods forcing oblivion to conform to it.

OP if you don't like the PC Oblivion maybe try and mod it till you do like it, just saying. Or you could try Nehrim the TC mod and get some of your moneys worth back.

I am still waiting for Tamerial Rebulit to be finished and thats taking years, but at least that mod is still be worked on yay. Its going to be so massive I am going to permanently need to wear Boots of Blinding Speed else its going to take ma ages to explore.
I think it is you who don't know the whole story. Morroblivion was only abonded shortly after Bethesda themselves sent them a "cease and desist" order. Don't remember the exact official reason, but they did this despite the mod requiring the user to own BOTH Morrowind and Oblivion.

Now though they have given it another try with the skyrim engine, BUT, this time they are recreating all the assets from scratch, which apparently had something to do with Bethesda being obstinate about it before. If anything I think that shows how strong their conviction really is. You have any idea how hard it is to recreate all those art assets alone?

Note the words "but instead, wanted to create something that could be embraced by both BETHESDA, and the elder scrolls community".

Try Morrowind Rebirth as it adds Something to nearly every cell in the game. I tried it for a little bit but decided toi wait for a second play through for a new experience

Nope. This is false info. Here's their official statement on the matter on their own FAQ:

» Wasn't Morroblivion shut down by Bethesda?
Several years ago, at the beginning of the Morroblivion project, the project thread was shut down on the official Bethesda forums, and hosting of it on TES Nexus was taken down at Bethesda's request, due to some apparent licensing issues with using textures from Morrowind in Oblivion.

These legal issues have now been circumvented with mesh and texture replacers, and community development of the project is still going on here at Morroblivion.com.

As you can see, they use the term "several years ago" (in a FAQ last updated almost a year and a half ago btw). It's apparent that they ceased development in favor of the newer Skyrim engine.

I would honestly just use the mod Morrowind Overhaul 3.0 and enjoy Morrowind for what it is. Like you I never cared much for Oblivion in comparison, was looking for mods awhile back to improve it but several mods that added monsters/made the game harder seemed way too much trouble to get to work with each other so I never pursued it farther.

Any other fellow Morrowind vets have any luck with a list of mods that improve Oblivion alot? I've been playing this game on and off for years and it's still my favorite. Skyrim was great, but I burned myself out on it on Xbox after 300+ hours lol. Have yet to mod it besides the official HD texture pack on the Steam Workshop.
