How Important is Endurance
I don't want to play a warrior, but I do want health. Unfortunately the Endurance stat can only be improved through the use of three skills, heavy armor, medium armor, and spear. But those are not the kinds of skills a stealthy or magic oriented character would have.

I see three options: Break the immersion and roleplaying by taking one of those skills anyway, and grind it out in the background; find a mod to change this behavior; or just live with low health like the 98 pound non-warrior that you are. I've been leaning towards number two, using a mod. Or even creating my own that switches spear with blunt, so that staff wielding mages get a benefit.

But maybe I'm wrong and health really doesn't matter as much as I think it does. Comments?

I've never focused on endurance if it didn't appear in my class skills. I think it's less important to pump endurance in Morrowind as the world is relatively static, though I suppose that could change based on your difficulty setting. In my experience the only thing I needed to do to get more powerful was level up (I play on "normal" though).

For a non-warrior? I don't think you really need to focus on Endurance. If you're using the Code Patch, your mage can easily use fortify health to temporarily raise his maximum. If your character is the stealthy type, enemies shouldn't even know he was there or die before they can retaliate.

But if you insist on raising your endurance, leave those 3 skills as misc and instead do some paid training on the side to raise your endurance by 2-3 points per level. That should be plenty enough for a non-warrior character.

simple, go to the console with the ~ or ` key (depending on where you are) and enter player->sethealth (any amount from 2 (because 1 or 0 kills you) to one trillion.) enjoy!:) (PS: you can also set strength endurance ETC the same with player->setendurance, strength ETC) and the console is perfectly legit and SHOULD not break the game unless you go around with a trillion in speed or acrobat.

Why play the game if you cheat? Takes all the fun out of it.

You can also use the bound spear spell. Bound spells are conjuration spells. When using a bound spear you will also get endurance points. What you can do is first conjure a skeleton or a ghost or something. Then use bound spear and start to hit it. In this way you increase your conjuration, which will help to increase intelligence and you increase spear in which this helps with endurance. Probably you will be hit, so it also helps with unarmored.

Yeah, that's what I usually do. But it's still a spear and still needs the spear skill. I wrote a tiny little mod for myself that puts spears under strength and blunt under endurance, so I can wield a staff instead and get endurance benefits.
