How to find a town in-game?
I'm just wondering if there's a way to find a town you've never been to in-game without having to resort to the internet? For example I just recieved a fighters guild quest to get back debt money in ald'ruhn. The person there says the money is in Gnaar Mok. It's been a couple years since I've played this game and I don't really remember where that specific town is. None of the Ald'ruhn scouts in town know where it is. Is there a way in-game that I could find out how to find towns or at least general locations of towns?

You can take a boat from any other coastal town to get to Gnaar Mok I suppose.

The easiest way I have found (havn't played this game too long though), is to use the silk striders to travel around and getting the map markers of all major towns. A silkstrider wont go to all towns alone, but after you travel to another city with it, you should get some other travel options. If you talk with the NPCs standing with the silk striders, they can also tell you how to reach some of the smaller towns that can only be reached by foot.

...Or, you can do what I only just recently discovered. Make a custom spell with:
"jump" on self for 1 sec
"jump" on self for 1 sec
"jump" on self for 1 sec

With it you can jump across a good part of the map, and your map will update with everything you fly over.

And make sure that you also get a "levitate" spell, to prevent yourself from meeting the same end as a certain other NPC... You can also use "levitate" in midair if you see something interesting while flying that you want to take a closer look on.

Or you can follow the roads, there are little sign posts from time to time that point to a nearby settlement.

Keep in mind Morrowind came originally with a map poster. Anyway, did you look in the index of your journal? You don't have to look for a scout. In my case I got the indications from a Master-at-Arms in Moomonth and a Knight in Buckmoth (while doing another quest).

I did go to a silt strider and saw Maar Gan which I guess made me think Gnaar Mok would also be in the red mountain area. And one of you are right, I've owned Morrowind 4 time and it alawys does come with a map it just slipped my mind this time.

Assuming you talked to the Blade Trainer in Seydna Need (in Arriele's Trade house) then you would have gotten the Guide to Vardenfell for free which outlines general locations of all the cities. I assume she sells other guides for specific cities but haven't checked. The city specific guides describe where silt striders go to, if there are boats and their destinations, and if there is a mages guild guide and the destinations the guide can send you to.

I think you mean Elone
You can also just talk to her, then she will show you most the Citys on your map.

That's correct King Dome.

Now OP said he needed to find Gnaar Mok, and that someone in Ald'ruhn told him to go there.

If I look at 'Guide to Ald'Ruhn' it actually has a map drawn in the guide that shows where Gnaar Mok is in relation to Ald'Ruhn. It is South-West along the coast according to the picture. Additionally, it gives a small description:

"Gnarr Mok is a LONG and unpleasant walk west to the coast and then south; there are no trails or marked routes"

'Guide to Vvardenfell' gives a less detailed description since it glosses over all areas on Vvardenfell but it says, under the 'Bitter Coast' heading:
"Gnarr Mok is a tiny island fishing village in the Bitter Coast region of western Vvardenfell."
edit: Coincidentally, NPC savants give the same exact descriptions in their conversation topics as 'Guide to Vvardenfell'.

omg this is the lamest trick I've ever heard!
Thanks for revealing such nice trick: I've never thought about it. I've always used to make Levitate on self for 300s to wander around the map

Maybe that's why adventuring mages still wear robes; primitive airbrakes.

I said air brakes, not parachutes. We all know how well that worked out. :P

I just got this mental image of an adventuring mage using that jump spell trick and, while flying over Vvardenfell, sees something he wants to check out. He casts levitate then goes spread-eagle in the air so his robes catch the air and slow him down, countering all the momentum he had from the jump spell.
