seek out the mudcrab merchant... many things are very costly, and for good reason, they tend to be rare in the world...

Use a mod that gives some merchants more gold or use the creeper merchant in caldera (it is a friendly scamp). He buys for the full price and had 5000 gold. Use a trade chain to sell expensive gear. Sell an armor or weapons for 5000 gold, rest for 24 hours, the merchant will have full gold again. Now you can sell another thing for 10.000 gold if you buy back your 5000 gold item at the same time. You earn 5000 gold. Wait 24 hours. Now sell the 5000 gold thing again and you have earned the full 10.000.

In Tribunal I got this awesome sword. Nice flaming sword that did gobs of damage. But I only knew how to use short blades. So.... I went and sold one ebony sword and leveled up my Long Blade skill from 5 to 85.

Morrowind: awesome lore, great story, amazing setting, completely unbalanced gameplay.

How so? Big weapons are heavier slower but do more damage than smaller weapons. seems pretty balanced to me.

Sounds like he's referring to the ability to simply pay for training a skill from 5 to 85 without being forced to grind 16 levels. Possibly also the ease of getting money (which is true of Oblivion and Skyrim as well).

Um, the only weapons needed to finish the main story is a short sword and a blunt weapon. Those items have increased to hit enchantments on them as well, so leveling them to 40 should be enough. One of the daggers actually has the highest dps in the game.

heh barilzar's mazed band would be very usefull for xfering my gain from vvardenfell to mournhold, i forgot about those shops...and with a little clever mercantile i may be able to squeeze some gold from those merchants by buying up their stock with expensive gear and then resell them every 24 hours like you said

Legitimately i am confused by his claim and want to know what about it he belives to be unbalanced. I could certanly agree that the armor classes are unbalanced at high skill levels for each type (light being pretty much just as good as medium and heavy and only having a fraction of the weight)

But thats armor not weapons.

Ummm, I raised my Long Blade from 5 to 85 buy paying for it. And a good chunk of Heavy Armor as well so I could wear Her Hands armor. Just by paying for it. Just on a whim, for one fight.

Maybe I'm having problems speaking English, but I don't think so.

I BOUGHT my skills! No grinding with mudcrabs, no grinding with cliff racers, no nasty adventures that make you late for dinner. I just sold one ridiculously valued item (the topic of this thread) and leveled up miscellaneous skill to 85. I would have leveled it to 100, but after five real time minutes with the trainer, my attention started to wander.

Do you not see the problem with this? Do you not see the unbalancing? I could have maxed out my level and all skills way back when I was green and fresh off the boat if I had wanted to.

This is true but it only works if you already have a high level char because you can not train a skill higher than the related attribute. So it doesnt work with a level 1 char.

I've never tried it of course, but your attributes are already higher than your skills when you start, so you can train them from day one. As you train your major and minor skills you can raise your attributes. With some care and management I'm pretty sure it's doable. Plenty of minor skills to ensure you always get the +5 bonuses.

Fair enough I suppose, though I would argue that its not really a combat balance issue.
It could probably do with some sort of rebalance but since the game has run its course fully allready its up to the player wheather or not they should exploit game aspects.

Though I would say its still balanced since you piad for it and the prices to start to add up very quickly, and only a hand full of trainers can train you past certain points. Its a well earned convinience really for intermediate/advanced caracters who more money than they know what to do with.
