Question about magicka cost in spellmaking
I decided to skip speechcraft and go for charm spells and bribes. I bought a charm spell that has a 30 point charm effect and over 200 magicka cost. I couldn´t use it, so I made a lesser version with spellmaking for the purpose of leveling up my illusion. The spell I now have has a charm effect of 25 points and it costs only 30 or so magicka. What´s going on? Is spellmaking bugged or is this the way it works? How does it affect other schools of magic/different spells?

This is my first Morrowind playtrough. I have the Morrowind code patch installed with ONLY the bug fixes activated (I want to play my first time as vanilla as I possibly can).

Magicka cost depends not just on the point effect (although, yes, small increments can make shockingly large ripples in the system.)

Generally, if you add something like 30 charm for 500 seconds, it's going to be way more expensive than 30 charm for 1 second. Same if you add a range to it. (e.g 30 charm for 500 seconds in 10 ft). So remember to change other values, not just the spell's value.

I expect it's the duration. I bought a spell with 30 charm over 30 seconds, and I still can't cast it with 360 magicka. So I made another with 30 charm over *3* seconds, and it's cheap and works great. You only need three seconds. You will only ever need touch for a charm spell, and touch is cheaper than target. Charm your target then immediately open up the dialogue window. The charm will last as long as you keep the dialogue up.

p.s. I've found that the higher your initial disposition, the easier it is to raise the disposition. Not sure why maybe I'm just imagining it, but what I will do is charm someone, and then admire/bribe them.

I made a spell called Love Me. It pumps up my personality by 75 points. It lasts 3 seconds. I hit spell, then instanly talk to person. it lasts the whole converstaion. charm just pissed me off. it used fortify attribute. I never tried charm cause Love me...worked like a charm ;) buying a single fority attribute spell will let you spellmake any attribute.I think. so you can goto temple in balmora, get Fortitude spell, and then spellmake personality spell
