The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

Hardest game ever to mod
Spent the past 6 hours trying to get my mods t properly work. I'm even using nexus mod manager. This is ridiculous. now I have to uninstall for the 3rd time because I have now moved files and can;t find them so I can't even launch the game. I hate this game now.

Worst modding experience ever.
It's easier than many games I've ever player... and Nexus is trash for mod installing... I never use it after it messed up files... all you have to do is look at the file structure. mods go in C:\whereeversteamputsit\Bethesda Softworks\Morrowind\datafiles though I have the disc version so mines easier I guess since I know where it's at.

I alsohave the disc versiona nd I am finding this extremely difficult. It will tell me I'm missing master files even though I'm clearly not. It's honestly driving me nuts. I'm not a modding noob either I have modded other games.
what mods are you trying to install? What file structure do they have when extracted?

The mods I really want working are Better Bodies, Blood and Gore, an hd magic mod and a world re-texture mod. Thing is these were working fine until I downloaded a few more mods, so I deleted those mods and now I'm back tot he point where I was when the mods were working..But this time the game crashes at "New Game" then tells me some mesh file is missing the master file or something even though it's seemingly impossibly to find the mesh file in question. Very confusing. I just uninstalled, if I re-install, will I have a clean slate?

I wanted Giants to work but I gave up on that ♥♥♥♥ show haha

You can't just uninstall the game to get a clean slate. You need to delete the Morrowind folder entirely and then do a re-install.

That said, what mods were you trying to install anyway? Morrowind is a very easy game to install mods for, so long as you're not using Nexus Mod Manger anyway (seriously, don't use that). Just do manual installs, drop the mod in question into your Data Files folder, overwrite anything in the Textures/Meshes/Icons department, pop up your Morrowind launcher and enable the mod. Simple, easy, done.

You may need to register BSA files if a mod comes with a BSA package, and to do so you would use BSA Registration Utility: http://download.fliggerty.com/download--633

You may also want to use MLOX for sorting your mod load order, which should take care of potential problems that might crop up: http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/43001/?
MGSO does Mlox for you. and adds a bunch of mods and pimps your graphics. morrowind graphic and sound. it is way more than just sound/graphic it includes morrowind patch and mlox and other stuff.
MGSO is the way to go. I downloaded from ornicopter. The set up took a while and wasn't the easiest thing is the world (though not terribly difficult). It was a while ago so all my references are gone just follow an online guide on installation :)
its really easy to mod just read up the mod instead of like a baka using mod manager to do all the work
Honestly how can a mod manager be more complex than manually doing it? lol. Especially when nexus mod manager works GREAT for my other games.

I'll do it all manually when I re install the game. I'm taking a break from this though. 5 hours of messing with my files drove me insane. Thanks, dudes.
I'll also check out MLOX.
