touch vs target magic resist
Im playing the mournhold dlc right now and i noticed that alot of npcs have stupid high magic resist, but only to target spells. When i use target spells about 1/10 will go through. But when using touch spells they only resist about 1/4 times. Are touch spells more likely to pierce magic resist?

I do not think so. This is likely just RNG being RNG.

Or it's actually a collision issue.
Or you use elemental spells and they have a resistance to one of the elements

well yeah it wasnt actually magicka it was a fire damage spell but the target one didnt succeed as often, i was just running away and shooting fireballs (in a straight line so i wsa 100% hitting) against that one rogue hand of almexia. But maybe just placebo rng who knows

Her Hand Guards have a Natural Resistance to fire. So if they cast then they will be casting one of two spells. On contains fire protection.

Her Mirror ability - Reflect 40 pts on Self, Restore Health 3 pts on Self, Resist Fire 75 pts on Self, Resist Frost 50 pts on Self, Resist Poison 20 pts on Self, Resist Shock 50 pts on Self, Resist Paralysis 45 pts on Self

Weakness spells exist for a reason.

just make a spell that is 100% weakness to x magic damage.

boom their resistances are 100% pointless.

and about the enchantment thing mentioned. if its a activated ability from the mirror all you have to use is a dis-spell spells

or you really avoiding resistance breaking spells?

yes on some enemies i avoid them because i will kill myself if the spell gets reflected. Dispel would have been useful if i knew he can cast such a powerful buff

doesn't absorb magic absorb countered spells? but now it just sounds like layering bs on bs lol

or can you place 100% magic resist on yourself to omit the countered weakness spells?

Use Absorb HP if it gets reflected you just absorb your own HP. The downside is it is only effected by weakness to magika so you can't double dip debuffs like elemental spells.

Using absorb health spells against enemies with high reflect/absorb magic is a poor solution, because your spells are still being negated, they just don't kill you anymore. You still need a reliable method of offense. Reality of playing a mage in Morrowind is such that in the late game you have to develop either very strong summoning capability or use a combination of offensive and defensive self-buffs to become a strong martial. Using offensive spells that deal damage is highly inefficient against endgame enemies with high reflect/absorb that cannot be lowered in any way.

Update: I play on openMW so i dont know if it makes a difference but using the fire beatle thing as an example
- target firedamage gets resisted everytime
- touch firedamage works
maybe someone knows

Shalks are immune to fire damage.

They shouldn't get damaged at all regardless whether it's target or touch. Does the touch spell also do a different damage?

If not, then the bug here seems to be immunity/resistance isn't working at all for touch spells when it should be.

idk how to check if the damage is what its supposed to be but seems like a bug yea
