Using the Unofficial Patch
Hey. Sorry for the noob question but I just installed this game (having lost my boxed copy years ago) and wanted to patch it. I downloaded the Version 1.6.5b (BTB) patch from UESP, but I don't know how to install it, and the read me doesn't explain. Any help? Also, would you guys recommend any other patches/fixes before I play? Thanks.

Do you mean the Morrowind Code Patch mod? It is a serries of unofficial patches made by players that fixes some of the bugs and inconsistencies in the game. You can get it from Morrowind Nexus, along with articles and tutorials on how to add downloaded content to your game.

Just to prevent any confusion: Code patch is not a mod. It's a patch that changes morrowind.exe. It's an executable file. Run it and follow on screen instructions. It's pretty self explanatory. Unofficial patch on the other hand, is a mod. Extract the compressed file's content to your Morrowind\Data Files directory. Run the launcher, click data files, tick the unofficial patch's esp file and voila!

Yeah, it was not the Code Patch I downloaded, it was the Unofficial Patch (watch I think is now known as the Morrowind Patch Project). Thanks for the advice guys, will give it a go.

I would recommed not using the patch alone. this mod really fixes up the game and the bonus is that it adds the unofficial patch. another bonus? point and click to intall. It lead you through it, and if you stick to the defaults, it is very very easy. http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/36945/? I was going to just install the patch but wondered what other basic mods would be good to add. These changes mostly graphics, sounds, bug fixes, and adding very lore friendly stufff.
