I did find a way to limit myself. I'll only limit myself to one intelligence potion per potion crafting session and I'll only do it once a day
but the preventative measure would be nice
I get it that since it's there, you see it as a tool you can use and not using a tool is like doing a "challenge run", like playing Megaman with only the pellet gun, but then, in in Megaman, the robot weapons are the main feature and not a random side exploit.
I myself find it incredibly hard not to want to maximize the attributes on every level up and i go out of my ways to ensure i get the x5 every time.. even though the soft level cap is like. .89 in this and even if i only put x3 on every level, i could still have max stats by level 61 , which is the minimum to have 100 luck, but i still can't resist playing that way.
i guess it's kinda how everyone always starts skyrim as a mage and then ends up being a stealth archer (except me, i never played stealth archer, i always do dual wielding long blades. . .but last time i said i would be a mage and started as mage and then went back to dual wielding long blades).
If you feel that not using the exploit is putting you at a disadvantage, then what are you doing that's making the game so difficult that you have to fall back on that?
I often will ignore game mechanics i don't like, even if it puts me at a disadvantage, because i don't like the mechanics.
An example is grenades. Any game that offers grenades, i won't use them. Grenades are annoying, tricky to aim, have delayed effects and often appear in small quantites and/or have inventory weight, requiring micromanagement i don't want to do, so i don't use them, even if it would be helpful to clear that large room of enemies, i'll still prefer all guns blazing over using a grenade. .
Look around on nexusmods, there are mods for almost everything. The kind of mechanical change you're talking about will probably require using either Morrowind Script Extender (MWSE) or OpenMW though.

like, according to reddit at oeat, it seems that "most" players "complete the main questline at level 15-20, meanwhile, i'm usually that level before i even START the main questline i mean, technically, i'm usually meeting up with caius cosades around level 9, but then i'm not even looking for that puzzle box until i did all the guild quests and side quests in balmora and then i take a quick notsoquick trip to vivec to fill in gaps on my spells list, like to get mark and fortify spells and while i'm there, i do some dungeon delving into the tombs in the canalworks and by that time, i'm level 20-21 and then i have so many alchemy ingredients from looting the containers, i go on an alchemy spree and i have to try really hard not to powerlevel, like i risk doubke leveling just from making the potions and then i have to "get rid" of the potions, running around from merchant to merchant selling them and leveling up mercantile. .and then i get even more levels.
am I not supposed to play that way? like, "most" people just do the main questline and ignore the side content and then call the game "beat"?
