I Joined the temple in balmora, but forgot where in the quest i am.
Sounds positively awesome! Also sounds like you're doing a fine job even without the Temple quest rewards, too.
....Hi?
As such, I have played dosins of chars.
but most would not be made different in their stats, but more in how to play them
-like rules like :
*may not kill 1 living thing (rely a lot on charm and running away, and pickpocketing)
or
*may not kill any humanoid (more doable, but still makes many quests impossible or harder)
or
*try to become the head of the thieves guild without actually ever stealing a single item
or
*no using magic whatsover (no potions, no spells, no nothing)
or
*not using any normal items whatsover (no armor, no weapons of any kind)
or even more drastic
*not use ANY items, or spells (always fight bare naked, no pots, not spells, only using your fists)
or
*kill al not mer people on sight
or
*kill all imperials (free the land!)
-you get the idea.
*from all the races I ever played, the high elf is by far my favorite, not for specific stats (though I admit I like the bonus to magica they give, I rarely use spells SO powerfull they even need that increased max mana)
But more because I like the story behind them :
High elves are THE elite :
-all other elve races are basicly only degenerated offspring of high elves
-all elves live longer than man, but high elves live MUCH MUCH longer than all of them, and may be even immortal (if fact in many lore high elves don't age at all, and are (nearly) immune to all diseases, and thus are biologically immortal. Sure they still can die in battle, but other than death from severe injury, an high elve lives forever.
-they brought ALL the culture to the land, in fact all the present culture, skills, knowledge and so on, are just the bits and pieces the other races manages to copy or steal or were giften by the high elves, their culture, knowledge and skills are EONS ahead of all the other races.
-they are xenofobic (they don't allow foreigners on their land, and rarely visit other lands, that I also like, nice and proud.
-they are taller than all other races, both in stature, as in ego, and I quite like that.
*compared to them, all other races are barbarians, why would I do with anything less than a highelf;) -> though I played every race at least a couple times, I always return to highelf.
*for birthsigns, I only stick to something I can use properly in the long run, and won't use it's value.
-that means either mage, the apprientice, or the atronarch (permanent magic boost)
-the warrior (permanent damage boost)
or -the lady (permanent HP boost)
*my standard setup would be a high elf ranger, with the sign of the mage.
-wears only clothing or light armour (after all glass armor was made by the high elves)
-he ofcourse is very good with the bow (I just love shooting those cliff racers when walking from a to b)
-as primary weapon he uses blunt (staffs only) to fit his "mage" herritage.
-as secondary he carries an axe (after all ranger, woodlands..)
-he is pretty skilled in both athletics and acrobatics
-he also is skilled in the school of restoration
*he is somewhat skilled in the school of ilusion (befitting his ability to handle wildlife)
*he is also somewhat skilled in alchemy (also befitting the profil of one that knows the land)
Did you know that you can't complete the game without using scrolls/potions/spells? There's a bunch of places where you need the levitation effect to get through (unless of course you are allowed to use enchants). Also, Bretons are too damn good in Morrowind.
I was not saying complete, this is a open game, there is (relatively) not such a thing as complete.
Besides I play this game since it was first released in 2002, sure I know such things, but completing quests I have completed like 100 times each, just aint fun for me anymore, I have to look for other things.
And that fun is in thinking out of the box, and look how far you can get without those restrictions.
(you can get quite far in the thieves guild for example without actually stealing a thing)
besides I have so much mods and added quests, landmass, etc, I don't even have to complete them all as the number of quests in my modded version is like 50-100 times as large as the basic game and both expantions combined have. I spend way more time adding even more mods, and crafting new mods, than in playing, If I play it usually is to test a new mod I made, or adapted.
Besides without mods : you will kill anything while blinking at it whatever race you are.
(one gets VERY fast to level 40+ and all stats at 100, game gets dull than)
on that scale, what race you picked becomes more estetic, and roleplay, than stats.
To give the thing a bit of flavor, this guy (named Garacaius, after another guy in an old RTS) would never use services of the Dunmer Temples, would not do Daedric Quests (safe for that of Azura, who also hates Vivec and thus ought to be alright), and would not use Daedric Weapons. Artifacts associated with the Nine Divine's were a-okay though, so I eventually ended up with the Lord's Mail, swapped my Dwemer Warhammer for Chrysamere and made mincemeat out of Dagoth Ur.
Race: Imperial - male. I always liked the Imperials not only because of the rich lore and roleplay potential but also because they're the most 'human' humans and I always liked to play humans in RPG games. They also seem like the race well suited towards being Paladins and Clerics.
Birthsign: The Lady. It gives some great stats which work well for a Paladin. I also used it in Skyrim and Oblivion.
Class: Also very similar to what I've created in Skyrim and Oblivion.
Specialisation - Combat
Favourite Attributes - Endurance and Strength(for role play reasons my character used to be a blacksmith and carpenter for his local church of Arkay so it suites him), I like having a lot health and I prefer close combat
Major Skills:
- Blunt Weapon (I really like medieval maces and warhammers, it's also the type of weapon attributed to Paladins, Morrowind has Staffs so that's pretty cool as well)
- Heavy Armor (makes the most sense for this class and looks cool, also gives the medieval vibe)
- Block (who doesn't like shields? it's the most important piece of equipment in medieval warfare)
- Speechcraft (I always liked skills like this in RPGs, it makes it a bit more realistic in a way, since information is the most valuable, I've also heard that it's usefull in this game)
- Alchemy (usefull thing for a pilgrim to have, learned from the priests of Arkay)
Minor Skills:
- Armorer (similar to alchemy, it's important to be self sufficient, learned from being a blacksmith at church)
- Mercantile (every traveler should be good at it, additionaly it's probably going to make early game a bit easier)
- Restoration (favourite magic school of Paladins, also learned from priests of Arkay)
- Security (perhaps not something Paladin approves but as long as it's not used to steal from civilians it's ok, comes useful in many situations while traveling)
- Enchant (because Paladins like their magic maces and amulets or rings)
I plan to go through the whole game and possibly all quests.
I don't really know what to do yet, I've just left Seyda Neen and head to Balmora where I'll have to get some actual gear and start my adventure. I need to get some blunt weapon and heavy armor to even think about fighting. From what I've read it would probably be a good idea to join Imperial Legion and Imperial Cult as well as Fighters Guild and House Redoran.
I don't know what to do in case of roleplay really, I know that I'll have to be honorable and nice to people (I'll probably use my Speechcraft to get maximum disposition with as many people as possible). I also always 'role played' that my character worships Arkay(always reminded me of Christianity) because of his upbringing, as his main God/Divine as well as deeply respects Stendarr and Zenithar.
What do you think? Do you have any suggestions?
