Game is too dark
I'm playing vanilla verison of the game and it is pitch dark during the night ! Any fixes besides increasing gamma?

..uhm..use a torch or a light spell?

Honestly though, if you rev the gamma all the way up you should practically go blind from how bright the nights are. This is rather strange.

Too dark? I had to modify the game to make it pitch black in the night (especially if it's clouded, so that I had to use torches or spells) for immersion. Your brightness is set too low maybe? If not, the solution is in morrowind.ini file but this is all I can say. Since my desktop computer's gpu burned up, my heavily modified Morrowind is trapped in a HDD of a computer I cannot turn on and I can't look at which values to change. But I remember finding guides about it. So I suggest backing up your morrowind.ini file just in case, googling "Morrowind.ini guide", looking at lightning settings and changing them accordingly in the lightning section of the ini file. There mods that do this, but all of them is designed to make the world darker. I didn't come across one that makes it lighter.

kk so apparenlt the issues was that I had to validate my files. Once I did that and loaded my files it was way better , not as dark as before. I can finally see :)

Okay cool :D I was going to say adjusting gamma in-game and on your actual computer. But do expect it to be darker on those foggy nights, even day sometimes, the weather in the game is amazing, especially for its time when it came out.

I'm experiencing the same issue.

EDIT: Oh wow lol I didn't realize how old this thread was. Nvm. lol

Gamma is the best way to change brightness in windows without washing out the image. Why would you want to change brightness any other way?

i use desktop nerds gammacontrol. However i highly advise against downloading it from the website because the installer itself puts a ton of crapware on your computer

Click my google drive link if you want to download just folder of the program. It does not need to be installed just unzip the folder anywhere you want it

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7iBfhCKNqPcMXVUb1B4UXk3dDg

CTRL+ALT+W increase gamma
CTRL+ALT+S increase gamma
CTRL+ALT+D Return gamma to default

I created those keyboard shortcuts with gaming in mind so you can change the brightness seamlessly without interuption. Give it a try if you dont like it change the shortcut keys to something more fitting for you.
