TES Online is set before the events of Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim, and generally doesn't give a damn about the original TES lore. To quote Colonel Sanders, the "Head Loremaster":
"We like to think of previous Elder Scrolls games as fables; sort of 'fanciful portrayals' of legend. With Elder Scrolls Online we're giving you the real world of Tamriel."
As per Dragonborn, the new capital is the city of Blacklight. Raven Rock is not really a seat of power at all, save for Councillor Morvayn who is a member of the Council.
All I can think of that quote would problably be censored by Steam's swear word filter.
Tes online takes places in the first era, about 18 centuries BEFORE Morrowind. It's a trick they made becouse they raped the lore for stupid MMo mechanics, so they setted it in a time where mundus was stable but little story is known.
3 factions with absurd alliances (nord and dark elves where at war at the time, lol, not to mention that all the "allies" of hammerfell where at war with each other at the time), they dispute for chirodyll (wich kinda sticks), and if you pay more for the collector edition you can even be an Imperial BEFORE Alessia even thought abaut empire itself!!!!! How amazing. And if you peeVpee enough you can even become Emperor of an Empire that is yet to form, but just for a week, when another peeVpeer will take you role (all the elder council and dinastical bloddlines, oh my!!!!!). Then we will have:
"1E 205" the mighty B4D-4$$-Murd3r3r, a Kahjit Shor Champion, supported by his Altmer slaves and using the Volendrung ($5 at ingame shop), defeated the alliance of the east led by the famous Argonian general Suk-My-F4t-BL4ck-T41L and his nord allies. Doing so B4D-4$$-Murd3r3r became Emperor for one week.
Horrible... well I consider TES online -Non canon. (not official lore)
Still they messed up enough in the official games : morrowind in ruins (not fun to re-use that province)
also : much of summerset isle has been destroyed, while summerset WAS (and is) the most likely candidate for TES VI (at least it would be my personal favority, and I bet on it, because, well we already have had most of the other provinces.
and nobody likes the beast-provinces;)
leaving us only Morrowind 2 (and this time the WHOLE province)
or Redguard 2 (as it has been a while since it has been done)
or Summerset Isle.
Most likely they pick that last.
But if they mess up to much of the lore, thats ruining the fun.
What is left to know is what will be the canon version of Skyrim's civil war.
What is uffcil is:
The Last Dragonborn defetead Alduin (probably causing a dragon breack messing with Elder Scrolls)
Emperor Mede II (or something, can't remeber) was assasinated by a misterious member of the Dark Brotherhood, organization believed to be destroyed in the events of Oblivion Crisis.
A Malog-Bal Vampire clan attacked Skyrim trying to fullfill a prophecy to switch off the Sun, but the Last Dragonborn defeated them with the aid of the reborn Dawnguard faction (wich is vague, since it can mean the dragonborn initially joined dawnguard, but then became a vampire lord itself and decided to defeat the other vampire lord and keep the auriel's bow for himself, not using it).
Miraak, the First Dragonborn, tryed to destroy Solstheim exploiting Herma Mora powers, but the Last Dragonborn defeated Miirak and saved solstheim, thus becoming Herma Mora champion willing or not.
In my opinion the next TES will be set in Summerset + Valenwood + Elsweyr + Black Marsh: it will be different from skyrim to avoid comparisons, it will have a lot of different enviroments, some as weird as morrowind. you will be aple to legitemately play a lot of different races, but won't be restricted in the beast races land that some don't like.
And also they would go on woth the thalmor plot that is the big thing going on. Alduin seems a marginal side event compared to that.
But mine are suppositions, nobody knows, years will pass, now they are working on Fallout 4.
P.S. if you like Morrowind that much i highly suggest you play Skyrim's Dragonborn. Even if you don't like the mood or the mechanics of the game, there's a lot of juicy morrowind lore in there.
I doubt we'll see anything exotic. Seeing how Skyrim sold itself so exceedingly well, the higher ups from Zenimax would strangle Bethesda if they would bring up anything original or unorthodox.
For hells sake, I could very well imagine they'd just make "Skyrim 2" (dropping "The Elder Scrolls" alltogether) just for the sake of dosh.
I found syrimm not a very good game.
Something along the lines of :
Morrowind : grade 9.0/10
Oblivion : grade 6.2/10
Skyrim : grade 5.4/10 -> anthing below 5.5 is a a failed grade.
for a whole while I even refused to buy skyrim, and it wasn't it for the fact that buying a pack of games with skyrim in it was cheaper than buying those games seperate without, I might still not have owned it.
Now I do can't say I'm particulairy impressed with it, hyped though the roof yes, not a very good game though.
if anything a person buys skyrim because he loves morrowind, and wants the other games of the TES series, but if judged on it's own, there is actually no reason to buy it, plenty of games that are better and cheaper (though perhaps not as hyped)
So making a skyrim 2.0, not my prefered pick.
I prefer TES VI to be PC only once more (not likely I know, but a man may dream)
Restore the lore as per Morrowind (get the old team back or get at least some writets as good)
and restore many of the game mechanics that were cut out (restore all the weaponclasses, spells and the leveling system of morrowind)
aka : I would want morrowind 2.0, not skyrim 2.0;)
If any of the next elder scrolls allows us to play as the nerevarine in Akavir, I'll die a happy man.
That would be a huge gamechanger.
There IS some lore about some of the races in Akavir, and something about their culture.
(supposingly they are more "asian" in culture, the exitic weapons like dai-katana's and such, are in fact copied from akavir)
The fortress of the blades, in oblivion, is made by Akaviri (one of the races of akavir) (so fortresses like that are supposed to be common there)
Races one would met on akaviri :
*Tsaesci (pronounced Say-es-see) come from the province or Akavir (the continent is called Akaviri) and are a race of vampiric serpent folk, and/or humans (probably the same as the Akavir) -> these are the one's that invaded Tamriel, these are NOT nice, they ATE all the man on akaviri, and all the dragons too!
*Goblins have no own land on Akaviri, they are occupied by The Tsaesci
*Imga, are a monkey-folk, living in the province of Tang Mo and who are constantly oppressed by the other 3. They hate the Tsaesci the most, and are loosely allied with the tiger people
*Tiger People (name unknown) livine in the province of Ka Po Tun, loosely allied with the Imga, strife to elimitate the Tsaesci. Dream about becoming dragons (their leader succeeded in this, and is now the ONLY dragon in Akaviri)
*Dragons (varieties, are amongst others red and black) : orininally all over Akaviri, aten by the Tsaesci, last living black dragons in Ka Po Tun, where the tigers tried to defend them againt the Tsaesci, but failed, dragons are extinct)
*Man (those were eaten by the Tsaesci, most likely that means absorbed/converted, not killed off) while they ARE Tsaesci, those come in the original snake-man variety, and those of man-variety, quite probably this is where vampirism origianated, and all man here are vampires.
*Deamons live in the provine of Kamal, they are frozen most the year and thaw once a year to use this time to attack the tiger people, only to freeze again. They once tried to invade morrowind (it took both the power of vivec, almexia and the underking, and learning the dunmer to breathe water to rebuke them)
*this would mean that in a game like this
-there would be NO mer races, as mer never came to this province (though it would be quite the surprise if this would be the place where the dwarves went;)) Making this not very nice for many players (while the nerrevarine could be any race, it still would mean no dunmer, no bosmer, no altmer, and no redguard (as those are part mer, part man)
-the man living here would ALL be vampiric, and would be of new unknown race or races (clearly they can't be imperial or nord), still those races would be somewhat playable, though good luck not cathcing vampirism in such a nation.
-the snake-people, the goblins and the monkeys, need to be added as new playable races.
*there IS a monkey race living in the woods where the kjaiit live, we only never met them, thats the one race never playable so far.. quite possible both the tiger people and those monkey-people are related to their akaviri counterparts (though they are NOT the same race)
-> having a game with 2 different spiecies of cat-like people and no argonians (but snake-people instead) and also 2 different monkey people in in, may just be a little to much beast to some.
The most likely plot for ading this province would be the nerrevarine going here, to prevent events that would lead to a new invasion of tamriel (and given the state those provinces are now, pretty little would now hold back such an invasion) 't is that currently the akaviri are to buisy amongst themselves.. than again a lot can change in 200 years, we don't know what happend lately.
but before one would add a game with any province of akavirii people need to be introduced to those new races, going back in time to the 1st and 2d era (where we have those races invade tamriel) would be a good stepping stone to that.
Alternatively we would be part of an expedition force send by tamriel, to go look what happend to the nerrevarine. (one could even think vampiric blades or such)
Thank you and yes, it was as ashlander as could be :P
Going back to your question, the ashes from a volcano can in fact improve the fertility of the soil, but as long as the Red Mountain keeps erupting and releasing toxic gases Vvanderfell will be little more than a Wasteland. However, Vvanderfell must be far from being abandoned. Not only has the valuable Kwama colonies, it has also the largest reserves of ebony and glass in all Tamriel.
Agreed. And besides it would be forced roleplaying.
Actually we don't even know if he is really Nerevar incarnated. Probably yes, but then again maybe he was just a tool for Azura to bring down the Tribunal.
Dagoth Ur addressing me as “Lord Nerevar Indoril. My Lord, Friend, and Companion” was all the proof I needed to believe I was the Nerevarine...until he asked at the end “Are you really Nerevar reborn?” :S
Well, he doesn't age and already survived the assassination attempts from two living Gods, one King and one Daedric Prince.
About sequels:
I really don't expect anything good from Bethesda. It will probably be the same as with Ultima from Origin. It came Ultima Online and killed the series.
Fortunately, Morrowind has one of the best communities ever:
- OpenMW is very active and will permit in any moment playing Morrowind and any expansions with new technology.
- The Lore Zealots(thats a compliment) of Tamriel Rebuilt released their third map and continues working.
- Michael Kirkbride, the main genius behind Morrowind Lore, continues writing in The Imperial Library and in the Official Forums. Without him there would not be masterpieces as Tamriel rebuilt or Sotha Sil Expanded (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlIkd-aH36s)
I hope to continue the adventures of the Nerevarine in Akavir someday. But as you can see, in the meantime there are many places to discover. :P
Even the ones that very legitemately dislike Skyrim should recognize it has a lot of content compared with other RPGs, it didn't feature day 1 DLC or pre-order in game bonus content, they released modding tools and all the DLC they have made have a good quality, and they didn't release 124 cheap dlcs to maximize income.
Maybe these things we give for granted, but the industry was taking another direction (look at bioware milking frauds made in 12 months like Dragon Age 2 or mass effect 3).
So dislike Skyrim is very legitimate, and of course bethesda wan't to have a good income, but they always had good costumer policies, took their time to release their product and tryed to develop their franchise. In my opinion they are one the few big gaming company that have a fair behaviour with their costumers.
So i bet TES VI will take many years to release and will have fresh contents and not cheap 2.0 version of older games. If yuo'll like it or not is another matter.
Hmmzz, ok, I give you SOME credit for your points, still my frame is not "look you should see the other guy" but how the industry (and the players in it) used to behave, as because others misbehave, does not make it right, you also misbehave, even if less than the others.
when I say morrowind 2.0 btw I do not neccecairy intend to revisid the province of morrowind (even if we haven't seen halve of it, we only have seen the 2 islands, those of soltheim and vvardenfell, and part of the capitol, the mainland is many times the size of these districs, room enough for a nice game)
but I more or less intend a return to certain things that were stripped away in later editions
-a return to real transport (per boat, silk strider, or walking) rather than the "instant travel" thing of later installments.
-a complete removal of the "do not kill essential NPC protection" a return to how it was in morrowind
-a complete removal (or at least buildin option to turn if off) of the in screen compass, and a return to general directions and find it yourself as in morrowind was the case.
-far more lore and people saying much more (not saying morrowind did it right with giving every NPC the same lines, still just nerving it is not nice either)
-a return (and if possible expantion) of the different class systems that were nerved in later installments. (morrowind had 27, oblivion 21, skyrim 18, thats bad!)
-derrived from this I wish a return of the many weapons and items that were taken from us, like crosbows, spears, medium armor
-the numbers of items one can wear, both in gear and clothing also has been lowered
While the adding of hoods in oblivion was nice (they too removed to much)
I also don't like that they removed the ability to wear clothing and armor at the same time.
Number of cloth item groups/sockets in game : Morrowind 10, oblivion 8, skyrim 8
Number of armor item groups/sockets in game : Morrowind 9, oblivion 6, skyrim 5
Number of max number of cloth and armor items that normally (without glitching) can be worn at the same time : Morrowind : 16, oblivion 11, skyrim 7
-a return to spells and options that were removed in later installments (like levitation)
While at the same time keeping the good things of later games
-like dynamic NPC, ridable annimals. houses to buy and own, crafing your own armor, weapons, clothing, arrows, and so on.
to me more is better, the more weaponsockets, to more can be stacked on top of eachother, and the more different types of weaponskills, spells and the deeper the lore, the better.
the directiong of nerving them down, is one of the primal reasons I say TES IV and V are less than TES III.
And thats why I want a morrowind 2.0, a return to these things, wich I believe can be done without pushing away those skyrimm biggers, though I am not sure consoles have the power to handle all that is needed for that (but than again who needs them, make it PC only again if thats the solution)
Number of minor skills :
Morrowind 27
Oblivion 21
Skyrim 18
Number of cloth & armor items
Morrowind 19
Oblivion 17
Skyrm 13
Number of cloth & armor items that can be equepped simultane
Morrowind : 16
Oblivion 11
Skyrim 7
You wished prove why morrowind is better, now you have it.
