(you might not have survided earlier encounters, and needed to reload, but now you did)
Well you COULD have surviced this very early on (even as level 1) but a special tip for this is :
Special hint : best sleeping spot for this is in the fighters guild in balmorra, the lower bed.
it is behind a door that can be closed (so even when not a member of the fighters guild no peeking eyes preventing your well earned res)
take the bed, on the left, go stand on the left side of it (back against the wall, facing the bed)
-
sleep in the LOWER bed as often as needed to get the "you have been disturbed" message
-
now you see the assasin, before you STUCK IN THE BED, can't hurt you, just smash his head in, he will not be able to fight back (do not leave your spot for now)
-when he is nearly dead, move away from the bed, but not to far, and KEEP your eye on him.
(the reason for this is we want him to start running, but not respawn, if we take our eye of him, while walking away, he will respawn near the door of the room (we don't want that)
if we kill him while he is not moving his corpse will be under the bed (and we cant click on his corpse to take our loot.
-
as soon as he start moving, while keeping our eye on him, move to the RIGHT side of the bed, and try to get his name in view (make sure you read "assassin" and not "bed" while looking at him, now kill him off and DIRECTLY after you give the final blow (before he hits the ground) press SPACE, to loot him.
-
now you not only have his armor valued at 2700 gold, but also a very nice ebony dart worth 2000 gold (this dart is the FIRST thing he trows at you, and he has only 1, it can't be found anywhere else) he also has an enchanted dagger or sword (this is leveled, while at a certain level range he will always have the same weapon, as soon as you level beyond that, he will start using the next weapon, so far I have found 5 different weapons on them, ever increasing in both attack power, enchantment and value)
*
best armor in the game almost, VERY light and quite high armor rating.. (making it a game-ruining thing as you will use most of the armours in the game no longer as this will outclass most of them both in armor value and weight) still if you want a good suit, early on, this is your thing. (there are a few armors better, but those are glass, adamantium, ebony and deadric, none of those you will get untill late game)
*
well time to sell our loot, and how nice, that in the SAME balmorra fighters guild, is Wayn, who will buy weapons and armour, and has 2000 gold:)
get him to like you 100/100, and sell your items to him, (if needed press T and sleep 24 hours times to reset his gold supply)
*
EXTRA tip, Wayn also sells repair hammers, I suggest you buy some, and repair items before you sell, good way to train skill, and earn more money, as damaged items sell at a considerable lower price (and yes they WILL be damaged, as you just hammered down on the former wearer of this suit;))
*
once done selling, head outside, to the streets of balmorra, and wait for 48 hours.
(this is because things need to reset inside, if you don't do this no new assasin will apear)
*
now head back in and back to sleep, till the next assasin apears..
repeat as often as you want, each time it should earn you 4000-6000 gold.
So this is (for now) a better way to get gold, than our soulgem trick... the next step.
once we killed our first assasin, a new questline will be available to us (will start automaticly)
next step, talk to ANY guard you see, to be directed to Apelles Matius in ebonheart,
to get there we take the silkstrider to vivec, and from there the boat to ebonheart.
there you will find Apelles Matius walking on the battlements, talk to him.
he will direct you to Asciene Rane, who can also found in ebonheart, in the grand council chambers, she will transport you to mournhold!
*
while in mournhold, go to the Godsreach section (it's the west-side section of the city)
Now find, the Craftsmen's Hall, enter it, and go to the 2d floor.
there, look for : Elbert Nermarc
He is the ONLY merchant in game that sells unlimited numbers of greater, and grand soulgems, here we wish to restock real good (as it is quite a trip to visit him) buy a good stock of the grand soulgems.
Now while these work on the smaller creatures just as fine that would mean we would have to make this trip often (and that we don't want to)
you by now know what monsters earn you more than others, just use soultrap only on those earning you enough.
(the best mobs you will find inside dwarven or deadric ruins, the former being more likely to be survivale by a medium range player, than the latter, mobs inside respawn after 48 hours (just exit the ruin, wait/sleep 48 hours and all of them will be back
to give you values for a FILLED grand soulgem, of the most common mobs inside those 2 types of ruins :
Dwarven :
*Dwarven ancestral ghost : 40000 gold (none of the mechanical mobs has a soul, so you cant capture them)
Deadric :
Ogrim Titan : 14000
Scamp : 20000
clanfear : 20000
dremora : 20000
flame atronach : 21000
frost atronach : 27600
storm atronach : 30000
Ogrim : 33000
deadroth : 39000
dremora lord : 40000
Hunger : 50000
Winged Twilight : 60000
Golden saint : 80000
To sell these I suggest you use the scamp merchant, called Creeper
(reason is it is one of only 2 merchant that buy all your items at FULL value, regardless of your merchantile or personality skills and regardless of your standing with them.
Goto : Caldera (by asking the teleport woman in any of the mage guild to transport you there, for balmorra this is Masalinie Merian)
find Ghorak Manor, and go inside
there is a scamp inside (looks just like the monster type) called creeper.
He has 5000 gold on him and buys Weapons, Armor, Potions, Misc(that inclused soulgems) and Magic Items.
to gain maximum profit from your soulgem, just sell him a cheaper object first for that 5000 gold of his, press T, wait 24h for his money to restock, than buy back the item.
(this will increase his money by whatever you pay him, for 24h (untill his money is reset again)
For perfect change with creeper, always keep 1 of the following items :
*1 Grand Soulgem filled with either a Diseased or Blighted Alit (value 5000)
*1 Grand soulgem filled with Bull Netch (there are other options, but this is the only one easely found) -> value 10000
*1 Grand soulgem filled with either ancestral ghost, Scamp, clanfear or dremora -> value 20000
*1 Grand soulgem filled with a dremora lord, dwarven ancentral ghost, or a Skeleton Champion -> value 40000
*1 Grand soulgem filled with a golden saint -> value 80000
That way you can sell almost anthing to him, without losing any money.
(while there ARE items that are worth more than 160.000, those are limited to very unique items, you most likely wish to keep, or sell to the museum, if you MUST, just get a couple more grand soulgems with golden saint, to be able to give creeper even more money
I prefer creeper over him anyday, but if you MUST locate him, here is the map to do so :
http://mwmap.uesp.net/?centeron=Mudcrab+Merchant
Or follow the instructions below :
If you want to locate him
Part 1 of the trip :
OPTION A (simpler but longer swim)
*from the vivec silk strider, head STRAIGHT east, will be a good swim or waterwalk, and an equally long walk, across country (you will not follow any roads), but if you did right, bump straight into some deadric ruins, called Ald Sotha near the coast.
OPTION B
*from the vivec silk strider swim north-east (across a little water but not much) and enter land where a road ends. keep following this road (it will go north-east, untill the road splits, pick the one leading east, after a while you meet a next split, one continuing east, one going north, you need to keep going east (if you are unsure where you are, check the north one, it is a short dead end road that leads to "small farmhouse"), at the next split, you can go south or north, go south.
next split, you can go southwest, or east, pick southwest, next split one goes south, one east, follow the east, one you are now at the daedric ruin of Ald Sotha.
Part 2 of the trip :
follow the coast around ald sotha, find the most eastern tip, and cross the water there in straight east direction, to a rather large island, you will find a cave entrance called "Sinsibadon" there.
Now follow the coastline (in eastern direction) of this same island, untill you find the dwarven ruins of "Mzahnch"
with this island fully explored, go to the southern tip of the eastside of this island.
head south-east, for a very short swim, there you are MUDCRAB MERCHANT.
given that the mudcrab merchant can't use soulgems, one would need to use other goods as exchange.
the best option for this would be (taken into account easy acces, and weight)
*4 deadric daggers (each valued at 10000)
*2 deadric longbow (valued at 50000)
-> this gives us the option to sell any item valued upto 150.000 gold, while only needing 84 weight (still a lot more than the 5 creeper needs, but it is managable), if you wish to sell even more expensive items, just increase the number of longbows, to 3-9)
They range in value from 5000 to 120000 gold (with most being in the 30000-50000 range)
They range however in weight from 9 to 96 (with most ranging between 35 and 70 in weight, taking very few of them to unable you to walk)
still it is common drop, so it will not require going to mournhold to get grand soulgems, and there is a deadric ruin, quite close to the mudcrab merchant (that does buy armour and weapons)
Most deadric ruins are in desolate locations, but 3 that have pretty decent transportation in place are :
Ald Sotha (directions given, straight east from the vivec silk strider)
Ramimilk, just south of ald'ruhn, a little southeast from buckmoth legion fort
Ashalmawia, just at the border of the town of Ald Velothi, that has no transportation options, however it is a short walk from khuul, that has boat-transport.
Whether you go there for ghosthunting or gearhunting, you are bound to get out either dead or ritch;)
Sorry, Thought this was posted 2 or 3 hours ago. Here goes again:
Good overview of beginning Wealth buildup. I have a few additional thoughts:
1. Pick {Harvest} all the Flowers & Fungi you pass along your way to Balmora. {I prefer to walk there rather than take the Strider} These are free cash in a Noob's pockets. While in Seyda Neen, kill a few Mudcrabs to build up your Weapon-of-choice skill and collect some Crabmeat to sell. You might even kill some Rats or Nix Hounds and collect their meat. Also a Noob can work out his/her Flame Spell on these critters to build up the Destruction skill. Also, use your HEAL spell to restore your HP, rather than using a potion or eating food. That will help increase your Restoration skill.
2. Find the missing Tax Collector near Seyda Neen {SN} AFTER you've talked to several citizens who've mentioned he's missing. When you find the Tax guy's body out in the jingweeds, Talk to the Customs guy who gave you your entry Certificate.
{OPTIONAL -> Give Customs guy the 200g you found on the Tax guy to build your Rep with the Imperials}. He'll offer a substantial reward {I think 500g} if you find the killer and bring him "to justice" {Off him}. Talk to some more citizens and get some clues.
Be sure to go into all the unlocked shacks. Eventually, you'll find the Perp. Turns out he/she's unarmed so you can use the opportunity to build up your "Unarmed" {fisticuffs} skill. You'll eventually have to pull out your Weapon to do him/her in. Talk to some more people for more clues. Go to the Customs guy and collect your 500g !!
3. If you feel brave and tough, {SAVE file first} clean out the Robbers' cave near the SN Strider station. Beware of the Mage in there. He can be tough for a Level 1 Noob.
A Noob can collect some decent beginner's Armor and Weapons in there for Free {ignoring a few Health Points lost}. Also there is a goodly quantity of other LOOT therein.
4. Dralasa Nithryon won't barter if you're "holding" {Moon Sugar or Skooma, e.g.}.
You'll need to sell such contraband to a Khajiit or Argonian. There is a Khajiit {R'something} in a store across the plaza from Dralasa Nithryon's shop.
5. You can join the Mage's Guild &/or Fighter's Guild and run a few quickie Quests for them to pick up some easy gold. You do not have to continue in the Guilds if that's outside your priorities. Also, the Upstair's Bosmer Mage in the gold robe has a HUGE amount amount of Gold for bartering and she'll buy buy Weapons and Armor {usually the higher price stuff you'll have}. As a member of either Guild you can take Free supplies from a special chest.
Thanks, but 1 your tips earn money very SLOW compared to my tips, they can help speed up the process though. and 2 they require doing some quests, where my guide leaves people completely free to play the game as they want. (not all people WANT to join all factions, or do certain quests, roleplay you know)
Now let me seperate the good and the bad in your idea's :
-Why walk when you can ride?-
Walking instead of riding saves only very little money, but wastes quite a lot of time, it can also be a lethal trip for certain chars as they have no weapon and no skil so they can't defend against the dangers they will most likely met on that trip.
Though I do agree it is more fun to walk, it is NOT the way to fortune (at least not for starting chars)
Most ingredients that grow there, are worth only 1 gold, though I happen to know 5 and 10 gold one's grow in that region too most are just the 1 gold variaty, also not all flowers will have loot in them, and looking inside every one of them is VERY time consuming.
While it is a great trip I agree, it is certainly NOT the fastest way to get serious cash, I consider harvesting more of a past time hobby (but a fun one I agree)
*if you must go resource hunting. better dive for pearls, valued at 100 gold each, thats much quicker money making. Pearls can be found in all variaties of kollop that can be found at the bottom of water nearly everywhere.
Those pearls do regrow over time (if you are not in that area for 48 hours) like flowers and mushrooms do.
However in water are slaughterfish, and those at early levels can be deadly for you.
also, as a new char, your speed and endurance will be low, as well as your atletics skill, so you can't dive all to deep, so you want kollops that are close to the coast, and in shallow water. there are plenty of these spots to be found though near almost any coastal city, and even some inland ones as lakes and caves can also contain kollop.
In the lake near pelagiat (you were walking, instead of riding weren't you?) there are 3 kollops, usually I get from 1-2 of them a pearl without any reloading. with a bit of save and reloading you might get all a pearl from all 3 of them.
THIS is what you want :
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/File:MW-creature-Kollops.jpg
*oneother good early resource are draggle tail plants (there can be found a couple just outside seyda neen, near the silk strider
The coda flowers value 23 gold, while draggle tail sells 10 gold.
this is what you want :
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/File:MW-flora-Draggle_Tails.jpg
Killing annimals may not be possible yet to you, many chars don't have the weaponskill of 20+ to be able to land a possitive hit om them, and where you going to get the weapon for that? as you have no money yet, and you didn't want to do quest or steal one?
ok, you have your starting dagger, but not all chars know how to use it properly and can't even hit a thing with it, same with bare fists, and magic, well you might have good destruction skill but not much use without spells to cast (and those cost money we not have yet)
But if you have and must by all means, train your skill upto 20-25, and why would we kill rats and such now, when later we would capture their sould, and earn much more by doing that?
Yes, killing mobs is good, but better do that after you got a bit of training, and stocked on soulgems like I said.
Good tip, but not all chars want to do that (or other) quest. I kept my guide neutral to allow free playing stile for all chars.
Also you forget to give detailed info about it to make the most with this quest.
*when the custom's guy asks you if he still has money on him, just lie and say no. You will still get the quest and hence be able to get 700 money from this, rather than 500.
*if you not want to do the quest, might as well grab that 200 gold in that corpse.
Also killing Girnit to get 500 gold may not suit all players roleplay and/or ability's.
for details : http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Death_of_a_Taxman
Other good quest is find fargoths hiding place quest given by Hrisskar who is in the tradehouse of seyda neen, on the top floor.
First talk to Fargoth, and talk to him about his ring, and give it back, you should have it as you would have been required to take the ring before setting free in the world.)
This will increase disposition with the trade person in seyda neen (and like my guide said we will want to potentially suck up with him)
Details : http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Fargoth%27s_Ring
+
Get the Find Fargot's hiding place quest, by first talking to arille (tradeperson in seyda neen), and than to Hrisskar who can both be found in Arille's tradehouse.
This quest requires no killing, and no stealing and no danger. (however you will have to effectively help a bully take poor fargots lunch money, so not all people will want to do this quest for roleplay reasons)
If you gave fargoth his ring back before doing this quest, you will find he also hid that ring (so you will get it back, and still keep the improved relation with the trade person) thats why if you plan to do this quest, it is smart to give him the ring back before doing this.
Once you find the loot, returning to Hrisskar don't get you a thing, in fact he will take the 300 gold lunchmoney, and hand you back 100 gold for your effect, so you might NOT want to complete this quest, but just keep the 300 gold for yourself, and leave this quest open.
(you may finish it anytime later you please, so it's a nice interest free loan of 200 gold;))
Details : http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Fargoth%27s_Hiding_Place
handing in the papers at gaius (main quest) will also get you 200 gold reward (spending money), and he is in balmorra where we are heading, so might as well do that.
Details : http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Report_to_Caius_Cosades
+
after you did this, when you are below level 5 (max level 4) you can get some free items by talking to the blade trainers (talk to gauis, he will tell who the trainers are and where they can be found, if you find them before you turn level 5, some freebees can be gained.)
Some only give you "tips" Read : nothing worth cash. And some of those live very remote for a new player.
1 ELONE (3 gold value)
If you travel back to seyda neen after talking to gauis, you talk to elone (in arille's trading house) and get a guide to vvardenfell (worth only 3 gold, but nice reading)
2 NINE-TOES (200 gold value)
If you talk to nine-toes in Balmora, she has her own house, you will get 4 Moon-sugar. (worth 50 gold each, so thats 200 gold of items) however moon-sugar is a narcotic, and most traders will not want to even talk to you if you have any on you,
one of the few traders who does buy moonsugar is Ra'Virr in Balmora, sell it to her.
3 RITHLEEN (210 gold value)
Rithleen, like nine-toes can be found in Balmora, in her own house. You will get a Steel cuirass and a steel helm from her. You may use them as armor as you want, or sell them, either way, nice feebee.
4 TYER (200 gold value)
Tyermaillin, also can be found in Balmora, also in her own house, thats just below rithleens's house. (causing a map error, as both doors are in the same spot, at different height, her house does not show up on the map) talking to her will get you a free Journeyman's Alembic, that again you may keep for own use, or sell for profit.
While there are other blade trainers, all the others give you nothing of value, if you wish to visit them anyway here are details :
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Blades_Trainers
Good hint, not all players want to do this (roleplay again) and as you said he can be tough, not all chars can handle him when just starting the game.
Also you forgat to say the name of the cave, corrected that now.
Already adressed that, though I wonder how thats a noob tip, as how would get such a noob his/her hands on skooma/moonsugar eh?;)
Selling, to traders, with Moonsugar/Skooma in inventory : drop the skooma/moon sugar before talking to the trader, pick it up after you are done trading.
Selling Moonsugar/Skooma : Ra'Virr in Balmora buys both moonsugar and skooma
Good tip, if somebody wants to join them (not all want to) both have a supply chest that retocks every 4 months of gameplay (thats 120 days, or 120*24 hours, when not sleeping/resting, 40 minutes of real life gameplay = 1 day ingame.
Free items from chests are good free loot.
For those who wish to not keep inside the fighters or mages guild after emtying those chest : giving somebody a good smack (barefisted) in the face or stealing an item in there will effectively cause you to be tossed out, however both options WILL give you a price on your head and may cause people in there to turn hostile and start atacking you.
(and even while you can run out and pay your fine to any of the guards on the streets, re-entering will prove to be difficult. and that ruins the earlier guide.
So I suggest not joining only for the gains, if you don't wish to be in, unless you WANT to be the stealing, agressive and/or murdres kind, as there is sadly no way to depart from them peacefully.
This is NOT a good way to gain money, time consuming and quite uneffective.
I shall list the neth effect of these quests to point out the hopeless low value of these quests.
1 GET 4 MUSHROOMS (56 gold value neth-reward)
get 4 mushrooms (all grow near seyda neen, while that will require us to travel back and forth (wasting 30 gold on traveling, so people better prepare by taking these samples with them before leaving seyda neen)
Reward, 4 potions, valued 15 gold each. (to much work for to little gain. unless you brought the samples with you, all 4 are worth only 1 gold each, so investment value wise is low)
details : http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Four_Types_of_Mushrooms
2 FAKE SOUL GEM (nothing of value gained)
Hardly any work involved, you don't even have to leave the door, but no gains either.
However this IS the ONE change you have to steal all those soulgems laying on the desk on the top floor of the balmorra mages guild (as nobody is watching them during this quest)
If you wish to be a thief, this one makes it worth your time.
details : http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Fake_Soul_Gem_(quest)
3 GET 4 FLOWERS (64 gold value neth-reward)
All 4 types grow near pelagiat, and you get there when walking from seyda neen to balmorra.
if you however did not as I suggested, thats quite far away from any means of transportation, and VERY time-consuming to go walk all this way to go get them. (and we want to get rich FAST) So we buy our ingredients
Luckely Ajira in the Balmora Mages Guild (questgiver) sells 2/4 of these flowers (Willow Anther and Heather), together valued 11 gold
Llathyno Hlaalu in the Balmora temple sells Willow Anther, valued 10 gold.
Requiring us to gain Gold Kanet, their might be a trader in balmorra selling it (many have "random" ingredients, so there is a change there is one who has it.
Perhaps we find a sample during our chest-looting in balmorra.
If we find none, we need to take a short walk from balmorra to moonmoth fortress.
(somewhat timeconsuming but less lethal and lengthy than walking to pelagiat)
there we find the trader Peragon, who WILL have Gold Kanet (valued at 5 gold)
Bringing our total bill at 26 gold, handing these over to complete the quest, will get you 6 potions reward, valued 15 each.
Details : http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Four_Types_of_Flowers
4 CERAMIC BOWL (gain 10 gold)
There is a ceramic bowl IN the mage guild, and as a member it's your to take, just take the one thats in the mage guild and bring it to her, keep the money.
details : http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Ceramic_Bowl
5 STOLEN REPORTS (525 gold value reward)
FINALLY something earning us some money, fairly easy, find the stolen reports (both in the mages guild, quite easy to find (see details), and you get 3 potions as a reward valued 175 gold each.
After this, no more quests for now here.
All this wasted time and what we have to show for it?
10 gold in cash, and 645 worth of items we can sell.
really this is a BAD way to earn money.
Slighly better rewards than the mages guild quests, but these need FIGHTING, and as said, many chars following my get rich guide, can't hit a thing at this point yet.
So they are unable to do quests
still let me list them
1 KILL 4 RATS (gain 100 gold in cash)
Ah rats's and ONLY rats without more dangerous monsters showing up, and with a door for us to leave when things get tough. the PERFECT soul-trap place. Why waste good rats when we cannot soultrap yet? better do this AFTER we have gotten our soulgems, and followed by guide, eh! No need for killing without real profit!
reward of 100 gold is no where near what their sould would have earned us.
All quests after this are pointless, for if you killed them without soulgems, you were wasting time and money, and if you did kill them with, you already have a better way of earning money. Also every fighters guild quist after this gets much harder both in traveling and fighting required, by the time you are able to fight that well, the rewards are really not worth your time at all. not even by a long shot.
so no, questing is NOT how you get rich.
if you have to take advantage of a DB assassin that clips in a bed it is in fact "cheating" since it's more immersion breaking and lenghty than just using the console to give you a billion drakes. It really makes no sense and disrupts the incipit of your guide.
Then the nonsense goes on: a beginning char that wants to have a pushing start can be satisfied with 1000 drakes, then the player should HAVE FUN playing the game instead of going to tribunal expansion without following the quest and then moving into a random daedric ruin and waiting for respawn times. That sounds like old good grinding, less fun than office work, and by fortune Morrowind does not ask any grinding but a good brain.
In fact one of the mods i consider essential is the ones that delays DB attack untill late game or after the main quest completion. Those assassins can be brutal at low levels and if you manage to kill him you'll get too early one of the best armor ruining the looting part of the game.
So, for what matters, my opinion is that your guide made sense untill the DB assassin glitch thing.
And the name is BALMORA with only one R http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Balmora
haters, gonna hate I suppose.
I have played morrowind for over 10 years, and my version is VERY modded a couple I made myself, don't think I don't know the game. (especially the trade imporium mods (there were already a couple mods where you could own mines and farms and such, and stores, and having people buy and sell stuff, and so on but none that integrated them all into one smooth faction, building a "global" trade empire. even though money is worthless if you have millions, I find it fun, builing a trade empire within the world of morrowind, practically owning all npc's ass)
I just list all the fast ways to earn income within the boundries of the vanilla game itself.
(heck in my mods gear rusts, wears out, clothing the same, so new gear and clothing needs to be produced all the time, made from raw ingredients that one mines or harvests yourself, or have your employees do for you, and so on, forcing you to eat, wash and sleep regulair, forces you to pay your taxes, have ingredients and potions expire, having people in city's go buy stuf, and so on, making for a much more alive economy, because I found money gaining in the basic game (and means to spend it on) way to limited)
I like to have as much money as is needed for me to pay for what I want, when I want it.
no I don't buy every item I see, not even if it's better than what I have, nor do I buy every spell.
but training is expensive, and I need training to level optimal +5 in 2 skills +1 for luck.
and for that you will need more than just 1000 drakes, more like +/- 3000-10000 drakes every time I level.
I don't train all skills as far as the trainers can give me, as that would ruin the game for me, but thats a choice, every person has it's own gameplay.
If you don't like to use the assisins exploit don't.
If you want to sleep and spawn them, while sleeping in any other bed, (so they WILL attack you, but you still get their outfit but not the dart) also fine.
If you want to play as a poor begger all the time, not using this guide at all, scraping by, also fine.
If you want to level "pure" (without any training) also fine with me.
And if you mod the game so assasins don't give you so much freebees, also fine with me.
(I simply made their gear like their weapons leveled, in my mod, as such when you are low level, Dark Brotherhood armor aint as expensive nor as good anymore that works too for me)
=>
every player has it's own style, you don't like the 2d part of my guide, than don't use it.
You correcting me on spelling imaginary words, in a game that misspelled itself like a thousand times:P:cwat:
Still I corected myself in my guide like 20 times.
it's because how they pronounce it, I suppose.
for they DO say Bal-Mor-ra in game.
in my language when you write Bal-mo-ra it would sound different, more like "mo" as in mo-hawk.
and if it was Bal-mor-a, the "pronounce' of the last "a" woul go up in tone, not down.
So to write down the name of the city as it is pronounced ingame there IS really one way to write it : Balmorra.
---
(actually I remember that back when the game was new, this discussion was very alive and truth be told, the game WAS made with the city's name Balmorra, but than it apeared some copyright excisted on that name (I never watched star wars but a planet in there seems to be called that way) and to prevent paying copyright, they changed the textual name ingame to Balmora, but because all the audio recordings were already made, those were not edited.)
---
So for me it will always stay what it should have been Balmorra, with 2 r.
The silt strider, well you got me there. I guess the worth silt, is one not very often used by me, as english is not my native language. I don't see it often used on products, or in movies, so while I do know what silt translates to in my nation, it feels somewhat exentric.
-
Silk, totally different story matches the word in my language more closey, and is often used on tv and on producs I buy. Also it's an insect kinda thing, insects make silk, also to stride is soft, elegant, like silk.
-
So thats where in my brain the connection silk-strider comes from (as in silky-smooth strider, rather than he-who-walks-on-silt)
!. My comments were drafted before your entries {which I had not yet read when I typed that} and were not addressed to your methodology but rather were meant to supplement the steps put forward by the OP ... So your extreme vitriol is way off base and misses the point.
2. One may join a Guild, Not do even Quest #One and still Clean out their member chest. It doesn't even take long. Some of the things you mentioned taking require theft which you claim your Noob would not want to do {no violence, no quests, no theft}. And the OP speaks of "legal" ways.
3. There is far more to the game than collecting gold, which is rather easy to get regardless of of one's preference of strategy. I prefer to enjoy the immersion in the environment of the game to trying to see how fast I may accumulate gold. My suggestions can be carried out while doing OP's "legal" ways of building wealth.
4. ?? You don't want to walk to Balmora because you're afraid some rat or nix hound is going to kill your Noob ... but you want to go pearl diving where some really nasty slaughterfish or mermen will off your level one defenseless Player in an instant ???
Those slaughterfish attack even in shallow waters, including the lagoon near Pelagiad ! There ARE some relatively easy mudcrabs in that area, however. And some marshmarrow. And there are more than 3 kollops.
5. Not EVERYONE wants to go through the game without doing any quests. Actually they can sometimes be fun to do. And the Nerevarine has to accomplish at least a few. Else, no Nerevarine.
6. Why Ride when one may Walk ?? Really, I prefer to Run or Sneak all the time to build up athletic and sneak skills. Don't get much aerobics in those Striders. Frankly, I'm surprised you suggest swimming/diving. That takes more time than walking and provides more athletics than walking.
7. WRT Addamasartus, I do believe that was prefaced with If you feel brave & tough ...
8. I don't need to use wiki. And last time I looked at them, I am pretty sure those draggletails might be classified as some sort of a flower. Those tend to be more plentiful in the swamps/ ponds near Hla Oad anyway.
8. It doesn't take much money to get a simple weapon before leaving Seyda Neen. There are plentiful resources enough to barter with Arrille for minimal armor and a short sword or a club. Surely even your anti-execise Player can take on a mudcrab or a rat.
9. I don't consider omitting all possibilty of doing quests as "neutral".
10. You are concerned about "wasting" time by walking anywhere but you are recommending the Noob to forego killing a few respawning rats and mudcrabs NOW so he/she can travel across Vvardenfell just to come back later to trap their relatively low-priced souls ??
11. I did NOT fail to mention the 200g tax money. I even specified the amount. If you turn that 200g over to the Customs guy, your Player will start to build his/her positive REPUTATION. And the Player doesn't NEED that 200g. But I'm almost certain you feel your reputation is worth nothing. And I am equally certain there are others who might want to consider that factor in deciding how to how they might proceed.
12. Where's a Noob get Moon Sugar & Skooma ?? C'mon !! You already said where the Noob gets it. "Eh ?"
13. Fargoth's ring ? No Stealing ?? Just what do you call taking Fargoth's stash behind his back? And taking his Ring again ?? What happened to "legal" ? Just because you can get away with it does not make it "legal".
14. The Taxman's killer is a pushover. Unarmed, weak puncher ! My level 1 Noob built up Unarmed skill to over 10 {I think my Noob built it up to 15 or so before tiring of the bout} while playing around with him. Even the Player's rusty dagger should be enough to handle him {although I must admit my Player sold off some loot and traded up to a dull saber by this stage}.
15. There's also the formerly High Flying mage that drops in on the Player's party. He has some really expensive clothes and potions your Noob can loot. And a Book.
16. Guild memberships are a means for building organizational Ranks and contribute toward your Player's REPUTATION. But as already discussed, maybe you consider reputation to be worthless.
17. Mages Guild - Again you are advising the Noob to turn to crime. "Legal" ??
18. No quests, again. WHY do you bother playing this game ?
