it will likely be very difficult but it might be possible to do
1. back up save file into another location
2. reinstall clean version of Morrowind (I reccomend changing your steam install to somewhere other than C:\Program Files to C:\Games\Steam or something similar so windows doesn't give you any trouble
3. install MGSO 3.0 keep as many of the choices the same as when you installed MGSO 2.0(i'm assuming you want to upgrade to the newest version and not run vanilla morrowind, skip this step if i'm wrong)
4. update MLOx , MGEXE, and install yacoby's version of wyre mash
5. run MLox,
6. run distant land on MGEXE
7. run a game up to where your in sedya neen to be able to save and save your game (this is just to insure the save game directory is there)
8. place your old save in the folder with that new save file
9. run wyre mash and click on the save game tab click on your old save right click on the section with the mods listed on the right hand then click save below
10. try to run I don't know if this will work depending on what was changed between 2.0 and 3.0 of MGSO
As Kmk988 pointed out, you're probably best off with a clean save, but it is possible to remove mods from a savegame and still be able to play that savegame.
To do so you would use Wrye Mash (covered in the video above, just skip ahead to the Wrye Mash segment on removing mods from a savegame, or see the written tutorial linked to in the topic post). Just select all of the mods you want to remove, and then apply them to the savegame. If you also want to completely get rid of any new model or texture replacers in your install, you would go one step further and delete the Meshes and Textures folders in your Morrowind Data Files directory. Keep in mind that this isn't recommended if you have any other mods installed that you intend to keep playing with outside of MGSO 2.
You can also skip this step if you're planning to instal MGSO 3, because that'll just overwrite the existing meshes and textures with the new ones from version 3.
As always, if you need any help with getting mods to work with Morrowind, do please post below and I'll try my best to solve the problem!
I'm green as grass to PC gaming. Downloaded Steam and Morrowind 3 days ago. Play-tested and it ran smoothly.
I wanted the essential mods, those being MCP, EXE Optimizer, and MPP. I read about them here http://wiki.theassimilationlab.com/mmw/Beginners_Guide
Suddenly, I discover that Morrowind should not be put in Program Files. It's actually in Program Files (x86), along with my Steam install. I decide to just make a new download destination.
""Selected drive already has a library folder. Steam will manage multiple games install in a single folder for you"". Well, I only have one drive on my computer and I'm not looking for more. Alright so I'll just uninstall Steam and put it in a new folder outside Program Files (x86).
So I look up how to do so, and I find the official Steam link: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=9609-OBMP-2526
So am I dead in the water already? Steam just murders Program Files (x86) if I try to uninstall it? Any advice would be much appreciated. Windows 10 btw.
