The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

Getting your own house vanilla Morrowind.
Hey

So I basically have another noob question, I'm a loot hoar, and was wondering if you can get your own house with a storage chest, orcabinet in the early stages of the game.

When you advance in the ranks of any of the 3 great houses, you will have to build yourself a mansion to live.
If you have bloodmoon expansion you can help building a town, when it's finished, you will get to build your own home here too.

You can also use any of the homes, or abodes on the map as your playerhome.
On my current character i use Hlormaren as my home. Items placed on the ground or tables etc. will never disappear.
With containers, well you should proceed with caution, but so far all I checked were safe containers.
There is no danger to storing in containers in this game as they don't reset. The reason people warn you off storing items in containers you don't own is that items stored in un-owned containers get registered as items that were originally in that container and are therefore flagged as stolen if you take them out again. And as someone above said, due to engine limitations, stolen items are flagged per-type. So stealing, let's say, some Muckwheat from an alchemist will mark every piece of Muckwheat in the game as stolen from that alchemist, preventing you from ever selling Muckwheat back to that alchemist. This can cause an issue if, for example, there's a particular merchant you like to sell things to, so you set up shop in his shop. You store all your stuff there and just sell it back to him when you need to. Convenient, right? The only problem is if you store any of it in containers, let's say a piece of common Dark Brotherhood armour, and then take it out and try to sell it to him, he'll accuse you of stealing and call the guards! Plus, that particular piece of Dark Brotherhood armour will never be able to be sold to that merchant again!

tl;dr don't store your stuff in un-owned containers
"Pelagiad, Ahnassi's House" You can enter it at anytime (45 lock on the door unless you do Ahnassi's quests and she gives you her key). The entire house has no owner tags and plenty of storage.
I'd recommend trying to make your own, faster than getting to a certain point in the game where they let you have one. You could download someones mod, but building your own house ( in the construction set I mean ) is actually pretty easy and you can completely personalize it.

I threw an extra shack across the water in the starting town (Seyda Neen?) and started building a nice House/Tower in the corner of Balmora but never finished it.

You can make something really simple:

Or go all out fancy:

gotta finish that tower.

I'm just about to make a mod like this, in fact. It will be a small refuge in the mountains in the north, using nordic architecture.
St Delyn upper north one and two are completely empty and free to use as well.
I didn't read all the posts so maybe it already been suggested, but you can get a manor in Mournhold. There is a quest for it at Great Bazaar. Velas Manor is really good looking and not too big, but with lots of containers. Good house in a beautiful city.

Another house where all the containers have an owner tag, though. As it has been mentioned... anything you place in an owned container becomes theirs. Sooo, all your loot will be considered stolen.

Actually, if one doesn't mind using a little mod... I strongly recommend Vegtabill's Velas Manor Improvements: http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/43084/?

Top notch mod that removes the ownership from the manor's containers. If you use the full version, it seamlessly add more storage to the place too. (The screenshots give a good preview.) Lots of care went into making this one and it shows.
This is not for Vanilla, it requires MGSO. However I have just completed it and thought it appropraite to share: http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/43788/?
I know that i'm 2 years late, but...
If you find a house or a stronghold without any unnamed NPCs or creatures, you can make it your own home. Also, you can join a Great House and complete enough quests, use Caius' house once he leaves, take the residence with the corprus stalkers and that ash statue in Ald'Ruhn (i don't think that they respawn) or find a randomn house and kill its owner(s).

I always pick Nerano manor in Balmora. Large amount of shelves and tables to display your weapons and a few containers to strore some of the smaller stuff. And upstairs you have even more storage space than you will ever need. You will probably want to kill Nerano but he's not a reallly and interesting character anyway.

I used to do this all the time. However if you want to be redoran, do not do this as you will break a quest
