Save game corruption
Does anyone else have problems with game save corruption? When I noticed it I went quite a few saves back and restarted to make sure I had a good save file but nothing I seem to do can keep me away from having this problem. Im only a 3-4 hours into the game so far but im afraid to restart and just have it happen all over again. im running 0 mods on GOTY edition. I google it as best as I could but there is a lot of really outdated info and most applies to people with mods screwing up their saves.

Message I get is:

copying clonedcontainer
de_p_closet_02_faveran0000000
may contain invalid data

I haven't really dealt with savegame corruption much in the past, but I believe you can fix this by using Wrye Mash's Repair All command on your save file.

I don't know how comfortable you are with command-line programs, so I'll just link you to the GUI standalone version which should be pretty easy to use.

Download it here: http://download.fliggerty.com/download--141

Once you have Wrye Mash installed, load up the program and go to settings (located in the lower left-hand corner, it appears as a floppy-disk icon), from settings choose your Morrowind directory (normally this will be located under C/Program Files/Steam/Steamapps/Common/Morrowind).

Once you've done that, go to the Saves tab and right-click on your save, select the "Repair All" command and wait for the program to work. Once it's done, your save should be repaired. I'm not 100% certain this will work with cloned objects and invalid data, but it's the only thing I can think of that would fix it.

Awesome thank you, though it gives me an error when I select repair all. It says "file master list is out of date. please edit masters before attempting repair". Not sure what it is referring to?

Scratch that I figured that out. And was looking at the list and noticed the order:

bloodmoon.esm 1
Morrowind.esm 2
Tribunal.esm 3

thought that was kind of strange the expansion would load before the main game.

The repair all loaded gave me this...

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "masher.pyo", line 6675, in Execute
File "mosh.pyo", line 5489, in addMasters
File "mosh.pyo", line 5499, in addMaster
File "mosh.pyo", line 5567, in getMasterMap
mosh.MoshError: Misordered esm: Morrowind.esm should load before Bloodmoon.esm

I can only assume this is the culprit... how do I change the order though?

Oh aye, the load order may well be the problem. There's two ways to fix that.

The first is to use Wrye Mash and go to the Mods Tab, right-click the File Header at the top, and checkmark Lock Times. That should fix the load order (it should be the order of, when you look at Data Files on the Morrowind Launcher, Morrowind, Tribunal, Bloodmoon).

If that doesn't work for whatever reason, you can use MLOX. Just throw it into your Morrowind folder, run MLOX, and then hit Update Load Order and it'll do everything for you. Also works for fixing the load order of installed mods.

Keep in mind that Wrye Mash's Lock Times feature will conflict with MLOX, so disable it before using MLOX.

You can download MLOX here (I'd recommend getting the application version): http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/43001/?
