Ok I'm still playing Morrowind but I can particly answer your questions. I still din't finish Main Questile (sidequests, duh...) but i played fully trought Mages Guild, Imperial Guild and i finished Bloodmoon DLC. I VERY recommend you to do the Mages guild first because it doesn't require much of the combat, and you can get STAFF OF MAGNUS, and Wizard Staff that is VERY VERY VERY VERY usefull, because it gives you long levitation spell that is perfect for flying around on Solsthiem if you don't want to fight every 2 min with hostiles (that carry disiseas btw).

Now Imperial guild haves a lot of quests but it will be a lot more fighting, on the end you can get Lords Mail very cool looking armor( and strong)

And Bloodmoon should be the first DLC you should play (but first level your character a litlle bit) it's very interesting and it haves a replay valye because there is one choise that changes the quest. And you can become a fricking werewolf that is much more cooler than one in Skyrim.

There are my advices and i heard that best house is Haalau, i think because you can get lot of reputation.

For all of your questions, there is no simple answer, it depends on what you expect form said plot / storyline.

1. Main story line - has a lot of depth to it, and a lot going on. Depending on your gamestyle it may be very interesting and immersive, or something you put aside when pursuing objectives without giving them any thought.

2. Guild questlines - Unlike Oblivion or Skyrim, guilds are not main story in the miniature version. You do not save the world by joining a guild, you become member of the guild. Mainly you will just fullfil jobs there, beliving more or less in their cause. It's important to note however, that these jobs are often related to weakening or destroying enemy guilds (so it's good to think your choices of alliances well)

3. Both Bloodmoon and Tribunal expansions are perfect if you like the big stuff going on. Interesting plot, though not necesarly clear right of the bat, and a LOT of action (Saving worlds included - well to some extent at least.)

i recommend bloodmoon first when u reach lvl 7 to 10
Tribunal is for players knowing what they do (lots of dungeon, traps etc.) and i always tell people to start it with level 12-15

Yes and no. If you burn through the main storyline without exploring any of the optional dialogue, it'll feel rather empty. But if you investigate everything you can, ask NPCs about all the possible topics, read the books related to the plot, you'll see a lot more to it than is there on the surface. Way more to it than Skyrim or Oblivion have to their main quests. Tribunal and Bloodmon are more direct with having an active plot on the surface. Between the two, I prefer Tribunal but Bloodmoon is good too. The expansions are less dependent than the main quest is on optional dialogues and books. Without exploring everything, you might not even know what the big bad even is trying to do. All you'll get is "he's bad" unless you really explore related books and dialogue. For the sake of spoilers I won't say what it is here, but if you wan to know, you can look it up on UESP.
