I have a good gaming pc with Windows 7 and Morrowind runs perfectly for me. One trick for a trouble free game on newer versions of Windows is to change the location for your Steam files to somewhere else other than program files. I made a special folder called games where I keep all of my steam files.
Works fine for me. Running as admin and the point mentioned above migth help.
otherwise: We are all nice people in Morrowind forum, not like in Skyrims :D
I tried to run game on pirated version to check it,yes I pirated the game to see how it works but deleted it 5 minutes later.I had widescreen, rendering, voices, low fps and other issues, thats why Im asking about steam version. So I guess I will have a lot of work with this game
I had a lot of glitches with this game on windows 7,well... some games works perfectly, some not...
btw.I don't like Skyrim.
As for patches, game is already up to date, with newest official patch, but you still should download Unofficial patch, and Code patch.
The only bad thing about the steam version of the game is astronomical price. Probably better to wait for some discount. No point in paying double the game's worth.
First of all be well aware of what your getting into, Morrowind is a Classical RPG which means RNG governs much of the game mechanics. If you want something more action oriented where hit and miss is determined by your own ability to attack at the right time you should probably look somewhere else.
Secondly. The game runs just fine for me On windows 7 and windows 10, havent tested on 8 or 8.1 but i dont see why it would be any different there.
There are a few recomended patches that fix a couple of issues and improve some aspects of the game such as the code patch mentioned previously.
If your hardware can handle it I highly recommende getting "Morrowind graphics and sound overhaul 3.0"[www.ornitocopter.net] It greatly improves the visual quality and sounds of the game and improves draw distance, (to the point where you can have the entire island visible if your system can handle it.) Plus it comes bundled in an (almost completely) automatic installer with all of the code patches and bug fixes to go along with it.
If you do you might want to disable depth of field. It gets a little screwy with bows because it bases its focus point on your crosshair which is on your bow when you draw an arrow back.
Except when thoes Skyrim and obilvion fanboys come in here and complain that Morrowind isnt more like Skyrim or Oblivion
How is $20 astronomical? Ive bought the game twice. Origionaly on the Xbox for about $40 or $50 then on steam. Well worth the combined price in my opinion.
But if your budjet is tight there is no reason you cant wait for a sale. Anytime Steam has a sumer or christmas sale its always discounted a bit.
Skyrim is lagging as hell, Morrowind is working so smooth ^^
I have 3 copies of Morrowind and its worthy ^^
does community patches are easy to install with steam, steam will not make any problems with it ? well, I think Im gonna get steam version on sale because you guys say it works perfect for you,gog is propably raw version and retail was really buggy for me.
$20 dollars is the price I bought my boxed Gold edition years, years back. Now you can buy it for 8 - 10 $ (In shop, boxed version.)
