Apart from a good 'ol no-cd crack, if your disc is still in pretty good shape I guess you could digitize it into an image on your computer and then just use a virtual disk drive to start it.

I can't help you for the actual how-to, but maybe the idea will lead you to a solution.

Or, you could wait until the holiday sales and get a steam copy cheap. Then you wouldn't need a disk in order to play.

The school doesn't allow you to connect to steam though. 1 question, is there no mod or patch to allow for no-cd play?

You can run steam in offline mode, or you can get a nocd-crack.

Its not on cd, and i never crack games

A nocd-crack is eimply that, its a modified executable that you can download to allow you to play the game without having to use the CD. And so long as you actyually own the game its pefectly legal, but its still probably agaisnt your schools rules. You will still need to install the game ahead of time.

Virtual clone drive and an .iso creator work magic on disk games

Well there nothing wrong with dowloading the no-cd crack for the game you own.
It's illegal to download one to play a game you do not have, but nobody can force you to put the Disc into CD-rom everytime you want to play your game.

You could also see if any stores near you have it, or get it from Amazon. It's been so popular that I still see it there from time to time.

Will i be able to activate it on steam then?

Only as a non steam game.

If you want access to all of the little features seam offers such as hours tracking, broadcasting etc you will need to buy a steam copy of the game.

You need only own the game files legally to play OpenMW. It runs better too.

OpenMW has not reached versoin 1.0 yet so I don't recommend using it yet. Notably, the vast majority of current Morrowind mods are not going to work for it. Your only viable options with no real gray-area morality are to personally make an image of your disk and mount it on a virtual disk drive, there are programs out there that can do it, or just spend the $20 for the Steam or GoG versions of the game. Ultimately it's what I'd suggest as it is way, way more stable and much more reliable than a virtual drive.

Sometimes games fail to recognize a mounted virtual disk. Often it's the case that SOME disk, any disk, has to be in your physical, real world disk drive, for a game to recognize the disk image in your virtual drive. I honestly do not remember if this is the case for Morrowind as I've been on the Steam version for the last year, (though not played NEARLY as much as I wanted) and took a several year break from it before that. Though you may still have that issue.

I'd also suggest just holding out for a bit and keeping an eye out in the next few months. With Fallout 4 coming out soon I wouldn't be surprised if several Bethesda games went on sale on Steam and GoG along with its launch. Who knows? Maybe you can snag it for $5 to $10 then.
