There is a point to slow running and no fast travel.
The amazing feel when you get something that makes you go faster, or when you level up athletics and speed so much, that you start running like a windrammer as you f***

BTW, i suggest playing with attributes and skill uncapper. I'm using those. Also i'm using MULE script.
And i also... explore every cell. Yes. Every time i take a step into a new cell on the map, i explore it.

The feel of gradually becoming a god is what drew me into this game.

Yeah, I also found the boot of blinding speed and that resist magicka trick. Pretty neat if I need to travel fast--the only problem is that it make me feels nauseated because my char move so fast it disoriented me lmao.

i think im one of the few players who does not mind walking, when i want a speed increase i just run :P
i will admit that i usually have netflix open on my second monitor though, this makes walking more bearable.

Good stuff. I've been playing so far mostly to get comfortable with the system and to check out some mods. Thinking I'm going to add Tamriel Rebuilt, I enjoy exploring and seeing new places, for the 'serious' game. I did track down the Teleporter Ring update and it is very helpful as it connects to a lot of places. But, if has started feeling like it is taking away from the experience. And it glitches some Alchemy things, which is weird. So, trying to leave it parked. The built in transportation system is pretty good and Mark/Recall too.

I def agree. What I really like is that for each "difficulty"or thing that needs patience like slow movement the game offers a multitude of solutions. And regarding the fast travel agree even more, a lot of the times I literally have a bigger adventure on the road to the destination than at the destination itself lol. And if you combine the means of travel the game offers with knowledge of where to use Almsivi and Divine Intervention you can get to most places in an instant if you want anyway, and even the places where you cant have the upside of feeling more desolate or wild exactly because they are harder to get to. Everything adds to the amazing immersion the game offers

The game does have fast travel though and quite a bit of it. All the boats, silt striders, and Mage Guild teleporters. And that's not even counting Mark/Recall, and Divine/Almivisi Intervention. The difference is the fast travel was done in a much more rewarding way, like you said.

I think Oblivion standardized the fast travel because it's map was so much bigger than Morrowind. It's a definite trade off but I think most gamers would probably not want to give up bigger maps for a slower paced game like Morrowind

I think a lot more changed from Morrowind to Oblivion than just a bigger map that gave the need for fast travel. The whole intention of the game changed with travel and world building. It went from a more densely filled, but indeed smaller map in which everything was explained through directions to a bigger map with more spread out content, in which in almost all cases the quest marker became the replacement of an explanation to where you needed to go. It was a total shift in attitude towards travel, which in the end did not give more content but indeed made the map bigger
