Officially completing a quest
I am on a quest that I inadvertently completed a while back - delivering a forged deed that I found and returned, not knowing it was to be a quest. Now, of course, the deed is no longer there, and the lucky recipient has no idea I am returning it; I cannot finish this quest, and move onto the next.

Is this the quest?

https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Land_Deed

So you stole the deed before knowing it was a quest? and speaking to Gentleman Jim Stacey does not close the quest? Who did you return it to? It should have been Indrele Rathryon.

See if the below works for you.

Make sure it is that quest, which is TG_SS_Generosity2.

Then use the console. All the information you need is below.

This is what goes into the console, Journal, "QuestID", QuestStage, just replace "QuestID" with TG_SS_Generosity2 and use quest stages not completed from below to complete quest.

Adds an entry to your Journal for a particular integer stage (given by QuestStage), of a particular quest (given by QuestID). Quests' IDs are given on the quest walkthrough articles of this wiki, along with their quest stages, which can also be found using the Construction Set dialogue window. This command is useful for skipping certain parts of a quest, and especially for fixing quests that have broken due to a bug or player error.

10 Gentleman Jim Stacey asked me to find a forged deed of sale for Indrele Rathryon's land. The deed is in the Library of Vivec. I should deliver the deed to Indrele Rathryon herself in Seyda Neen in the name of the Bal Molagmer.

30 I gave the land deed back to Velanda Omani.

50 Indrele Rathryon accepted the false deed to her land.

55 Indrele Rathryon accepted the false deed to her land. She seemed to recognize the Bal Molagmer gloves I was wearing, but could not place from where.

100 ☑ Gentleman Jim Stacey thanked me for taking the land deed to Indrele Rathryon.
