in "The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind"
related to the White Guar quest.
Here are some steps you can try to potentially
resolve the issue without restarting your game:
Reload a Previous Save:
If you have a save from before you started the quest,
try loading that and see if the Guar behaves correctly.
Wait and Fast Travel:
Sometimes NPCs and creatures can get stuck.
Try waiting for 24 hours in-game or fast traveling
to another location and then returning to see if that resets the Guar.
Console Commands:
If you’re playing on PC, you can use console commands
to help you out:
Open the console by pressing the ~ key.
Use player->additem "item_id" quantity
to give yourself any needed quest items.
Use setstage "quest_id" stage_number
to advance the quest to a specific stage.
You can find the exact quest ID and stages through online resources or forums.
Check Your Modifications:
If you are using mods, one of them might be causing the issue.
Try disabling them temporarily to see if it resolves the problem.
Look for the Dead Body:
If the Guar isn’t leading you to the body, you can try searching
the area where you believe the body should be.
The body is usually near the location you encounter the Guar.
Also make sure you're on the right quest stage
This leaves a few alternatives (which are more or less likely):
- uesp doesn't list this particular quest bug.
- Patch For Purists and / or Morrowind Code patch are not installed.
- A mod influencing the quest somehow.
- The "bug" is caused by using the console incorrectly.
I may have missed one or two others. And I assume the installation has been verified in Steam to rule out missing or corrupted files.
Questions:
- Morrowind or OpenMW?
- PC / Windows or something else?
- What is the last journal entry for the quest?
https://forum.openmw.org/viewtopic.php?t=3558
"the bug tracker that 0.39 fixes the issue of the white guar not moving"
"Run this in the console, should fix up your save.
setjournalindex, MS_WhiteGuar, 50
set guar_white_unique.guarfollow to 0"
"Perfect! Thank you."
Well what else did you expect from a piece of software which version number starts with "0."
maybe - because you need not usefull Redundancies

Nah, just a regular (not quest specific) bug. Does that sometimes in vanilla.
There was an issue that would regularly cause it in an older version of OpenMW from 8 years ago, which was fixed in the next version a few months later.
