Mod to set weapons weights to reasonable levels?
Was just noticing over at UESP the insane weights of weapons, up to 90# for a big ax and 60# for a sword. Can anyone recommend a mod to sort that out?

Why not simply focusing on raising your strenght? Sounds like a problem that could solve itself rather quick by leveling up a few times.

Here's a few mods I found that would accomplish what you're looking for in one way or another.

Sift through them to find that one that best suits what you're looking for, I'll put a star next to the one I think is most on point for your request.

"Strength Encumberance Multiplier - Carry more Weight per Str"[www.nexusmods.com]

"Item Weight Adjustments"[www.nexusmods.com]

"(Almost) Unlimited Weight"[www.nexusmods.com]

"Item Weights Redone"[www.nexusmods.com]

"Heavy Gear Weight Rebalance"[www.nexusmods.com]

"Dynamic Item Weights"[www.nexusmods.com] *

I think that the Item Weights Redone[www.nexusmods.com] is what you're probably looking for though. You could probably use some of those mods in conjunction with others listed as well. Others might not be compatible though, so make sure you're paying attention to any potential conflicts.

"Dynamic Item Weights"[www.nexusmods.com] might also be suited as it allows you to set the values yourself.

What do you mean unreasonable?
Clearly these aren't supposed to be kilograms or pounds but something else. You can carry up to 500 units without help of magic or drugs. If these were kilograms that would be equal to current deadlift world record

When I finally get a decent weapon, I immediately (or as soon as I have enough gold) get it enchanted. Something on the order of ...

Cast When Strikes
==============
Restore Fatigue 15 points
Restore Health 10 points

The actual point values depend on what the weapon is made from.

I use a high value Soul Gem so that the weapon won't exhaust its enchantment in one fight. The enchanter in the Balmora Mages guild has one with a Winged Twilight soul on it which works very well. It costs a good bit of gold but it's worth it for two reasons:

1) My fatigue level stays nearly full during a fight and I normally don't lose much health

2) Many high order NPCs cast Reflect spells on themselves so I don't like to use weapons that do extra damage, whether elemental or otherwise, as I end up hurting myself in those cases.

I also usually enchant a similar weapon, though of far lesser value, with Cast When Strikes: Soul Trap so I can keep my main weapon fully charged.

I think with it being an old school RPG, they had in mind a situation that would be as realistic as feasability possible, immersion takes a hit if you have 15 two handed weapons in your pocket.

I thought the OP meant that it's almost impossible to *use* a weapon that weighs so much because it drains your Fatigue so rapidly. If the sheer weight of a weapon is the problem then just sell it as soon as you can. I mean, don't we all make the gold/pound calculation when we're looting?

Playing the game the first time around in the spirit it was meant to played is kinda the way to go. Can't lie, I console command extra carryweight in oblivion and skyrim after playing through it again for the zillionth time.

In morrowind, carrying a couple extra Mazte, Sujamma, greef, or flin around and piling all the loot together in 1 spot before recalling out of there is probably the easiest way to do it besides spending time on alchemy and enchanting. Those drinks are usually just laying around in numbers.
