Report a translation problem
If you haven't done it already, try the following:
- Verify your Morrowind installation in Steam.
- Install Patch For Purists and the Morrowind Code Patch (with default settings).
- Don't use any other mods until your crash problem is fixed.
I'm sure someone will suggest you play OpenMW. You could try this, too, but if the problem is caused by Morrowind files used by OpenMW (a possibility), it may not help.
Moreover, OpenMW is not quite the same as Morrowind, gameplay-wise. Whether or not this matters to you is your choice.
PS: Interestingly enough, there is another thread next to yours ("Game Crashing") which reports an OPenMW crash when going through doors. :-)
all you need is morrowind grafix extender and unofficial patch which are both found on nexus mods.. then once you have them installed your game will run and it will be solid
you might also try windows xp compatibility mode or somethin
i would go with morrowind patch and graphics extender, they are soo easy to use and make the game stay vanilla but also waaaayyyyy better :)
regards~
might have a game crash event or system related errors.
an error msg would help narrow the possibilities.
but being serious though what mods would be the best bets? I found a list of mods to help fix a fair few crashing issues (and this time I actually installed the script extender) but I haven't had the chance yet to test it in any detail due to life being evil.
I've installed: Better Dialogue Font, MGE XE Installer, Morrowind Code Patch, Morrowind Enhanced Textures, Patch for Purists and Unofficial Morrowind Patch
I can get it to run for a period of time (haven't tested things out since I made the post, due to life >.< ) but I'm fairly certain the SFX has nothing to do with the crashes. I was getting maybe 15-30 of time in before each crash, and they where all at random times doing random things. But right now I'm hopeful that the mods I currently installed will prevent the crashes, still have to make time to test it though >.<
I don't know how to do that >.<
while I have been using pc for decades now, I'm still a massive scrub when it comes to more complex things like that
The reasons are simply that it helps to localise the problem, and that the more different things you add to a system, the higher is the probability of failure, caused not only by the components themselves, but also by conflicts, incompatibilities between different components.
In my earlier post I recommended playing with the Code Patch (with default settings) and the Patch For Purists only (because I know from personal experience that this combination works). In your situation I would also consider starting without any mods. You might run into new issues fixed by the MCP and the PFP, but you could at least find out if the ones you described in your first post are still there or not.
Update: still crashing like a bastard. My next step is to uninstall mods one at a time and test to see if they are causing the crashes
If MGE XE was installed properly you should have had some version of MWSE that came along with it I think. You should go and run the updater though in any case.
I think I might of solved the problem. While booting up the game I looked at the technical files and noticed that one of the mods was in there, and it was un-selected. Turned it on and the game now seems to be running a might bit smoother. Wont know till I get a full session in but I think that was the main problem.
