Why is Stronghold named after some random ♥♥♥♥?
So I spend 5,000 septims to build a stronghold and it gets called after some random Indarys ♥♥♥♥♥♥ I've never met. What's that about? Why isn't it named after me?

Because you're a dirty n'wah

Possibly for simplicity? Areas can't have 2 names/id's and making a duplicate would be somewhat redundant.

If you weren't in Redoran, the manor would be owned by a Banden Indarys. Similar for Hlaalu's Rethan manor and Telvanni's Tel Uvirith, though in their case the tower is also built on Uvirith's Grave.

Each one of the three strongholds has the name it has because that's the surname of the Dunmer who builds it if you join one of the other two houses. So if you join House Hlaalu or House Telvanni, Indarys Manor gets built by a guy named Banden Indarys.

The developers messed up on that one,I would say. Definitely a better naming scheme they could have used.

Why should it be named after you?

Because you're the one who ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ built it,essentially. I've never even met Indarys and he has nothing to do with the construction of the stronghold. Gameplay wise it makes hte most sense too.

You just followed the orders. The house was their doing, in which they used you.

No it is not. You think you are the chosen, but you don't.

Because Morrowind has a long time honored tradition of exploiting people, stabbing them in the back, and taking their ♥♥♥♥ / taking credit for their work.

You didn't buy a house, you were given the honor of building your House's stronghold, you should thank Azura they don't arrest you for trespassing on their private property.

Honestly Morrowind is a lot more enjoyable if people steep themselves in the lore first. A lot of things make more sense if people understand the rules and etiquette of the world.

I get what Morrowind is like but patrons of a large work already do get stuff named after them in Morrowind,it doesn't make sense gameplay wise or lore wise. Fair opinion though ofc

OP, you want the Great House Stronghold you make to be named after your character? Fair enough. We get that. But it's impossible to do. The devs would have to include a script that accounts for every single possible name, both fantasy-style names and real-world names in every single language in which the game was released. Not only that, but said script would also need to account for all the gibberish or outright nonsense that comes up as names in games like this. Do you realize just how complicated and time-consuming that would be for a single-player game? No, quicker and much easier for it to be done the way Morrowind does it.

Nah that's actually quite simple. You don't use a list of names and check for them, you just use the code stand-in %PCNAME that is used whenever the player is referred to by their name.

Of course, that would still require some hefty script just to apply to the name.
