How do you defeat a hunger?

how do you defeat a hunger? i cant do it, he is immune to all of my spells

try getting a silver or better melee weapon to just bash it dead.

I can't do that, because i am playing as a mage. i cant use melee weapons cuz they will always miss

I have heard that you should have one weapon skill even if going with mage. Just a short sword as minor and having a dagger would be enough. I have not played as pure mage yet so I don't know how you should plan it but this was the tip I have heard few times

well, this is my first time playing as a mage and it is also my first time trying to complete the main quest, i have tried using swords and daggers before and everytime they miss.
are there any spells in Morrowid that can damage a hunger? all mu other spells do not affect him

You can also summon monsters to deal with hungers

Also hungers are immune to shock too. But they aren't immune to magic. So a damage health spell (non elemental) will injure them. Likewise absorb health (mysticism spell) will also work on them

i couldn't do that becuse my character does not have conjuration as a major or minor skill and also because i dont think i have any summon spells

what people did not tell so far, you can also use summoning to deal with hunger. Like you I am also combat oriented and would want to kill what attacks me. We however have another option -> dodge the fight by going invisible, using levitation or jump etc. Mages really got quite some options. If it is not a randomly encountered hunger (I don't remember to well if there are fixed hungers in morrowind) you might just not be strong enough yet to beat it and should return at a later stage. Also wasn't there somewhere an absorb health spell in morrowind? that might work too. Be creative and use the option you like most.

ok, and before i made this thread i dealt with hungers by leading them away, so i could rest again.

Absorb health is my spell of choice for hungers and is available from a healer in Sadrith Mora(?) who lives in a house behind the inn.
