Any differences from the CD-ROM version?
Title. I have Morrowind GOTY on disc, but after building a new PC I no longer had a disc drive so I grabbed the steam version. Is there anything I'm missing out on by playing this over the original release?

Nope, cause this is also GOTY.

Doesn't mean they are the same version.

Steam and GOG are going to have the absolute latest/last official patch Bethesda made, and if any were released after the GOTY box then he'd need to hunt that down.

Might be mistaken but I don't think any offical patches came out after GotY release.
However Steam and GoG may include their own fixes and additions. GoG GotY for example includes TES CS, all official minor addons, and some fixes Steam version doesn't.

No official patches after the GOTY release. If my memory doesn't deceive me, the Construction Set was released with the original game, so it's not a GOG addon, but rather a Steam omission (I don't have the GOTY version on Steam). Or didn't GOG include the CS in the GOTY package?

Yes, the original CD has CS, GOG does, Steam GOTY doesn't. Not sure about physical GOTY version

Physical GOTY did have the construction kit (I assume that's what you mean by CS ?), at least the version I own does. It had 4 discs - base game, bloodmoon, tribunal, and the aforementioned software, but I did have a very late release of the game that I bought around 2012/2013.

Yes CS because it's construction set

The first run of the big box GOTY had the CS with it as well, so it always had it. Bought mine the year it came out. Well before 2012/2013... more like 2003/2004.

can send you one of my spares lol. usually around 30 bucks from the retailers, if you were dying to compare.

iirc there was no copy encryption on the old disc, so you should be able to just scan it in .iso format and mount it via virtual cd from win10. if it wont figure out the format try .bin or virtual clonedrive.

and you can do a direct compare.

i'd be curious to see what features were available and what weren't. i only had goty for console (regrettably lol)
