I don't get why Dagoth is a villain.
Back in my childhood, i wasn't able to pay much attention to details when playing Morrowing, but now, after beating the game again, i just don't get why Dagoth is the villain.

He had the Dunmers best interest in mind, he was pretty much the only person to call Nerevar sweet and not an N'wah and the only person to be glad to see Nerevar again.

Really, all the recent memes aside, Dagoth should never have been a villain. If Bathesda ever remakes Morrowing, they should give us the option to side with him and drive the empire out.

Erm... you forget the part he wants to unleash his deseased minions upon the world.

The problem with Dagoth Ur is what he's been doing SINCE the Battle of Red Mountain. Among other things, he's been using his lieutenants as a means to spread various diseases, including Corprus Disease, which is basically a zombie plague. He's also been having them brainwash members of society into being his sleeper agents/assassins. Another thing he wants to do is to turn Morrowind into a theocracy that worships Alulakhan, the ginourmous brass golem he's been building; he controls that thing, so he would essentially be the one in charge. Finally, he doesn't just want to drive out the Empire, he wants to drive out ALL outsiders. That means everyone except for Dunmer who were born in Morrowind. It's not enough for him if you're a Dunmer; if you were born somewhere else, that makes you an outsider in his eyes. Not to mention that he's been working with terrorists, the Cammona Tong, to meet that last goal.

So although his origin as the bad guy of the game is shrouded in mystery, and may even have been false, it TURNED real over time.

He's the "tragic" villain trope. Started out good, did what he was told, but proximity (and perhaps some investigation) of the HoL corrupted his mind and made him paranoid.

There is a mod or two that allow you to join the sixth house if I recall, although quality of the quests/story varies (check Nexus Mods online).

Main Quest Overhaul got a joinable Sixth House. Never tried that part but I loved that mod at the time.

Adding on to what Valden said, he wants to "perfect" everyone through Corprus. Not sure about you, but I'd definitely not want to end up as an Ash Ghoul or Ascended Sleeper.

There is nothing really wrong with driving out all Outlanders. Half of Tamriel is basically being colonized by Humans, who are not even native to Tamriel and the Redguards themselves have no outlanders because they murdered all of them.

Hot take. The elves aren't native either. Hell, they might not even be from the same planet.

Also, from Dagoth Ur's Plans (paraphrased):
1. Establish a theocracy with him in charge, and lead his followers to commit genocide.
2. Expose the Tribunal as frauds.
3. Commit genocide of "inferior and mongrel races" from Morrowind.
4. Drive the Empire from Morrowind.
5. Recover ancient territories "stolen" by Skyrim and Argonia (Eastmarch, The Rift, Solstheim, various islands, all of Argonia).
6. Extend theocracy across Tamriel via subversion and conquest.

Note: Dagoth Ur "perfects" people via Corprus, destroying their souls, minds and bodies, and causing them to live in absolute agony for all time.

I think you forgot quotation marks around stolen.

But the TL;DR of it all is that Dagoth Ur is only a good guy in his own mind.

That's why charisma is, perhaps, the most important skill to have (both in-game and irl). People love Dagoth Ur (and others) because of it.

Also: Points 2, 4 and 5 are fair.

The majority of the territories Dagoth Ur considers stolen from the Dunmer were not originally Dunmer lands. It would be akin to the US claiming Peru was part of their territory because it's nearby (despite the actual distance between the nations).

Also if I am right isn't he the reason why the Imperials are in Morrowind?

There' also the fact that Dagoth's definition of "outsider" includes Dunmer who were born outside of Morrowind. You have be both a Dunmer and born in Morrowind for him to like you. If either of those requirements isn't filled, he hates you, unconditionally. That's also part of the reason he's a villain.
