Mods that must be installed before a Save Games
If I understand below, the mod Beautiful Cities of Morrowind should be installed on a brand new install of Morrowind (OpenMW in my case)? Sounds like I have to install right after installing Morrowind and OpenMW and before I even create a character, or what am I missing?

Also, if the above is correct, what other mods require this?

From Nexus the mod Beautiful Cities of Morrowind.
"Can I install this on an existing save?
I would say no because some information gets stored on the save file, such as the position of activators, NPCs, lanterns, etc. Installing the mod on an existing save might lead to floating objects, misplaced objects or NPCs. OpenMW handles this a lot better than the vanilla engine, so you might be fine using OpenMW. However, I would still recommend against installing the mod on an existing save."

Okay, so the thing with OpenMW is you "can" install with an existing save, however depending on how far you have explored the area BCOM changes and moved items or NPCs it may cause conflicts and errors.

You can usually safely install new mods without causing any issues provided the new mod is cleaned and doesn't overwrite/change any mod you're already using. even if it does most of the conflicts it causes can be fairly easily fixed by adjusting your mod load order or changing a few things in the construction set.

One reason I decided to try OpenMW as well for my first play thru of MW (yes, I know).
And as I add mods during play I have come across some that still do not recommend adding to load order during play, 'Beautiful Cities of Morrowind' being one <as mentioned above> which is a pretty nice mod to have, but haven't decided whether I'll risk it yet.

Using OpenMW is not drastically different from playing Morrowind normally; its just a different engine that is more stable and will eventually integrate many of the features of more modern titles. and you can load substantially more mods.
