The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

Medium or Heavy Armor?
Alright I don't have Morrowind but I'm planning on maybe buying it and I saw that there was light, heavy, and medium armor, so I was want to know the differences between medium and heavy armor, and which one you guys think is better.

I can see into the future. You will wear full set of light assassins armor.
Totally heavy armor. It's quite heavy, indeed, but you can always enchant something to improve your strength. Or just get corprus, and every day you'll get +1 to stregth, too, so you can level it up to crazy numbers.
The problem with heavy armor is that it's HEAVY. As in, the reason that Divayth Fyr never moves. He's too encumbered in Daedric armor. The best full set one can get in Ebony armor, which weights 236 pounds. Stop and think about that a minute. Two hundred and thirty six pounds!!!! For comparison, a full set of Orcish armor (best you can get without DLC/addon) is only 99 pounds.

On the other hand, heavy armor provides the best protection. And oddly enough, fully trained light armor provides better protection than fully trained medium armor (for the vanilla game).

But on the third hand, by the time you think you need your own full set of Daedric Armor, you're going to be nigh invincible anyway. So it really doesn't matter.
I would suggest adding Either medium or heavy to your minor skills so if you`re not sure, you can switch back and forth and level up from it
First of all, I'd like to thank all of you for the information. Really helpful and I appreciate the help :D

I decided I'm probably going to use heavy armor. I personally would compromise speed for protection any day so that's my choice. I will put heavy armor as one of my major skills but should I also put light armor as a major or minor skill, in case I wanna switch or use it for a quest or ect?

Well the only affect of putting a skill as a minor skill is it doesn`t start as high of a level I think... So if you plan on using Light Armor a lot I suggest Major skill but if it is just something you may end up using, put it into Minor skills
If you have the room for it, light armor as a minor skill might make sense. There's some good light armor artifacts out there you might want to use, such as the Boots of Blinding Speed. But good is plentiful enough you could just train it up instead.
If you are like me and you enchant everything you can get your hands on, NOTHING beats Daedric armor in terms of enchanting potential. Morrowind has this thing where the heavier something is, the stronger of an enchantment it can hold. (Get training in enchanting. Do not try to do it yourself, it takes far too long)

Medium armor is a good second choice. Early game it truly can (and probably will) save your life. Go steal Bonemold armor. That'll hold you until you start coming across better medium armor.

Light armor: I never used it. I like the concept of it, but Morrowind can be a cruel mistress and I find having more than a thin layer of cloth between me and my enemy's sword is a good idea.

Unarmored: This is always a good idea. This will increase your natural, unarmored, protection rating. Meaning if you're caught in a long drawn out duel and your armor breaks, you wont go back down to 0. One of the main characters that you meet early is a trainer for unarmored. If you happen to strike it rich, get training in this too. (There was a quote that went something along the lines of: "Fear not those that wear armor. Fear those that don't need it.")

In your second or third play through (granted you get that far), go less with protection value and more with aesthetics. Personally I have a preference for the Adamantium armor (it's a medium armor) you can get made in Mournhold.

My honest to Lorkhan opinion is this: Start as a Nord. Go with a class that has heavy armor and long blade. DO NOT customize a class on your first go through. It will result in you flailing about. JUMP EVERYWHERE. Not joking, this will get you further faster (at the expense of fatigue) Join one of the Great Houses. These will give you the full Morrowind experience of "Go East", "Follow the path North out of X" or "South of XX". Explore, BUT SAVE OFTEN. Trust me. Save! Often! Stock up in Almsivi Intervention scrolls and Divine Intervention scrolls. Stock up on health potions, magic potions, and fatigue potions. Find an enchanted item that will allow you to levitate. Repair your own armor and weapons. Try to carry at least 5 repair items with you for when you're knee deep in the Ashlands and your weapon is about ready to fly apart. Pick a major city and travel away from it in a random direction. Explore. If you get stuck, check the wiki.

My personal class is one I named "Templar". It was inspired by the Tribunal Temple Ordinators. I'm not going to lie, I get a lot of training in the magic skills so that I can use them and not have to carry around a lot of scrolls and enchanted items that I'll only use if the situation is bad enough.

Major skills:
-Medium Armor
-Long Blade
-Enchant
-Destruction
-Alchemy

Minor Skills
-Armorer
-Unarmored
-Restoration
-Mysticism
-Speachcraft

I have beaten this game over a dozen times on my old console at once (so far) on the PC. (As of this message, I have 58 hours in the game on Steam. 50 of those were just me randomly exploring, rediscovering locations, finding legendary weapons, ticking off a Bosmer in Mournhold, searching for Ancient Dagoth Brandy to fill up my liquor cabinet in the house I stole from a dead man after I killed him because I like his house.)

If you've paid no attention to anything else I've said, listen well to this:
~
tcl

~ opens up the console command menu. tcl is toggle collision. You'll need this for when the game gets you stuck and you can't get out.
The handy thing about medium armour is that it's fairly easy to get a really, really good set of it. The Indoril Armour Set, worn by Ordinators. I think there are only two full sets of Daedric armour in the entire game including both expansions. The bad thing about medium armour is that by the time you get to Tribunal, there is some really good heavy armour sets you can get. The preenchanted Hands of Almalexia Armour, and the unenchanted Royal Guard Armour. So gradually heavy armour just pulls ahead.
Light armor, glass set.

Daedric is sooooooooooooooooooooo heavy and you have to kill a very important character to get a full set of it since theres only 1 full set in the game. Where as theres a lot of glass armor sets to enchant for you needs.

Though Her hand's heavy armor ain't too shabby.
There are two daedric sets, just that the other one requires a lot of searching to fully assemble.

I remember hearing the loose set is missing two pieces, believe it was the shoulder pieces.
The pauldron pieces are in the expansions according to the wiki

Only way to get a full set of daedric without killing anyone is by having the expansions.
