Dirty Mods?
I downlaoded another mod and am trying to get it to work. After getting error messages on booting Morrowind up, I checked back on the page I got it from and both it and the mod's update required cleaning. I don't quite understand. The page was http://mw.modhistory.com/download-44-7307 .

To keep it short, the mod contains unintended/unnecessary changes, which you should remove/clean before using it. There are many tools available that you can use to do it.

Back in the days I used TESAME. Pretty simple, straightforward and efficient.
But many recommend TES3CMD, a command-line tool which seems pretty good.
It's up to you which tool you decide to use though.

Looks like I have some homework then.

It says "This is a CLEAN mod that has no influence on saved games or other plugins" on the mod page?

Edit: Nevermind, I didn't scroll to the bottom before posting. Sorry.

If you are interested in using tes3cmd as cleaning tool, you can find installation instructions here: http://wiki.theassimilationlab.com/mmw/TES3cmd and a basic tutorial here: https://moddinginmorrowind.wordpress.com/2014/09/12/morrowind-modding-tutorials-using-tes3cmd/

It is easier than it looks and some parts, like the section about using batch files, are entirely optional.

I seem to have gotten the mod working, though the error message keeps poping up when the game loads the ".esp"s.

What error message are you getting? Because there's a fairly common one regarding master-files that you can pretty much ignore, since all it means is that the mod in question was made with a different version of Morrowind. Not a big deal unless you're running a purely vanilla 1.0 version of Morrowind without any of the expansions.

This is what I found in the warning.txt:
One or more plugins could not find the correct versions of the master files they depend on. Errors may occur during load or game play. Check the "Warnings.txt" file for more information.
Texture "Textures\_land_default.tga" count 3.
Texture "Textures\menu_thick_border_bottom_right_corner.dds" count 2.

Yep, those are harmless and can be safely ignored as Darkelfguy said.

However, if you still want, it is quite easy to remove the warning about the master file version with tes3cmd. You just have to use the following command:

tes3cmd header --synchronize NerevarArmor-v30.esp
