Merchant trick I do, cheat or legit?
I've started a playthrough this week, but I have so little time so I've been speeding up some transactions. For example I have some deadric and ebony weaponry, with 10s of thousands of value. Rather than just selling them with the buyback method to the mudcrab merchant I just sell all to the max amount of any merchant, then get the rest via the console.

Do you think this is cheat or legit

convenience issue, yes?
Central Jul 28, 2022 @ 6:14am
cheat

seriously if you are having this issue than why not just download a merchant mod which has a merchant with loads of money?
Nebgama Jul 28, 2022 @ 6:27am
yeah its cheating why? well because you sold the items to the vendor for the max that they will offer you which means any money you spawn via the console is free money because the merchant only gave you a set amount for the items.

if you wanted more then you should of gone to the respective merchants or even learn to play you don't even need those merchants if you know how to play the game.
Nebgama Jul 28, 2022 @ 6:29am
Then again i am not really sure why you keep bring these up for you are just trying to incite arguments. Realistically no on cares what you do with your game and you don't either you can keep using the console because you don't care about using it.

I know how to cheese mudcrab merchant, by buying back and selling bit by bit to get all 80k for a deadric weapon for example, but it takes unnecessary time wait for so many days again and again, just speeding up the cheesing process.

These people talking about 'I know how to play game more than you' cringe me immensely

OP just want to watch the world burn.

Imo just using creeper or mudcrab merchants are cheating. they're put in the game as a deliberate exploit, kind of like how the Xbox version had the cheats for unlimited health and Magicka. It's deliberate by the devs, but not necessarily meant to be used every play through, but more as a shortcut for those who've played the game to death.

I find just using those merchants ruins a bunch of fun because you get so much money so quickly that it becomes a non issue and then you just play the rest of the game bribing people 1000 gold and paying for training and imo it becomes boring very quickly. The journey is the destination, and cheesing easy cash skips over a large part of the journey.

Of course I used the merchants a lot when I was younger, but I found I basically quit playing that character not long after doing so. So for me I simply don't use them as that's what is more fun for myself

But OP you are cringe for even inciting an argument based on cheating. You won't get far by coming in this forum and telling everyone that you cheat.

Also you did ask the following question not to mention you missed the question mark at the end so this already sets the tone of who we are talking to here.

So basically your whole premise is a misnomer to begin with. People are going to give their opinions. Otherwise if you don't agree and think its cringe when people tell you you are cheating then maybe you should not even bother making the thread to begin with?

Like i have already stated in some of the other posts you don't mind using the console because that is something that is ok to do as a measurement on your scale of what is acceptable and what is not.

Most logical players are going to tell you its cheating though because it is.

Yeah I'm all for having a healthy debate on this, but there was no need to start a new thread on essentially the same thing. All's been said anyways.
Nebgama Jul 28, 2022 @ 7:29am
i guess the real logic here is that you....

Sold X items for X amount of money which means what ever bartering you did is the amount that you received.

as example just because the tool tip says lets say 4000 for an axe or something does not mean you are going to get that amount that is the whole point to bartering in this game it is simulating real world bartering in a very simplistic manner.

It also means that if you only get 3500 for your axe again just an example then that is what the merchant was willing to pay if you then go and spawn 500 gold then that 500 gold is cheated money at this point.

Basically you might as well not even bother selling anything to the vendors at all and just spawn gold.
Nebgama Jul 28, 2022 @ 7:32am
it even goes one step further high price items can and should be used as trade currency or a pseudo currency. Which further strengthens the bartering aspects to this game.

Idk how ever you want to paint it is fine to you but don't expect everyone else to agree with you when you get salty about people telling you otherwise.

This is Morrowind steam forum we do argue a lot in here

Since you know how to play the game, why not just speed up the gameplay and skip the whole process of playing it. Congratulations you have won. Just need to look up console command to play the ending cinematic
