The Tale of Gaenor and the Nerevarine (Guide to Beating Gaenor as a Melee Build)
The following passage is a musing of events that have just occurred to me, as-well-as a general outline for the DLC Tribunal side-quest line: The Natural. Spoilers to both parts of the main questline of Morrowind as-well-as the quest The Natural itself well be presented ahead. Let's begin.

Our story begins with a Dunmer lad named Aedorin, born and later imprisoned in Cyrodiil and sent East to Morrowind under order of the Emperor himself to become a member of the Blades and fulfil the prophecy of the Nerevarine. Aedoran himself was but a commoner, untrained and unlearned, and therefore very unassuming in his appearance. In time his martial prowess grew as he mastered arms and fulfilled his destiny, defeating mighty Dagoth Ur and his Sixth House and freeing Morrowind from the Blight. Shortly thereafter, assassins of the Dark Brotherhood were free to venture into Vvardenfell. The Nerevarine was one such target. The assassin found the rough hewn, farmer dressed, Aedorin asleep surrounded in his spoils of war. Without armor, the assassin thought, surely this target would be no match for him. And while the assassin's advantage was certainly great, with his poisoned blade of paralize, the Dunmer Nerevarine resisted the paralizing magic and drew his Daedric Dai-Katana and slew the assassin before immediately reporting to the local guard.

He was ushered to Ebonheart and finally to Mournhold, the jewel of the Morrowind Mainland. The sights astounded Aedoran and he was compelled to immediately explore every nook and cranny of the famed city Almalexia herself called home. It was there, in the Temple District, our Moon-And-Star met a very peculiar Bosmer: Gaenor. Little was known of Gaenor other than that he appeared to be poor, a pauper on the Temple's steps. When the two met, he recognized Aedoran's unassuming peasant countenance as a facade and knew him to be an upstart martial master and Nerevarine. The pauper begged Aedoran to spare a meager 10 Septims and the humble lord was eager to oblige. Gaenor then asked for 100, 1,000, 10,000! Each the lord Nerevarine was happy, if more amused than anything else, to surrender. The merchants of Mournhold were very rich and so the goods he acquired in his travels could finally be sold. Money was of no issue to Serjo, and so he gave freely to the pauper. Finally the greedy Bosmer requested a MILLION Septims and with a smile, Aedoran accepted. He figured, given the time, he could come up with the money and what was the pauper going to do? Come collect? Looking to intimidate the reincarnation of Indoril Nerevar destroyer of the Sixth House who slew the Demi-God Dagoth Ur?

Instead the Bosmer was furious! Sure he was being mocked! He swore Aedoran would pay for his cruelty, took his newly acquired 1,100,10 Septims and disappeared. Disturbed by the encounter but thinking little of it or his threat, Aedoran simply noted it in his journal and moved on with his life. He took up work around Mournhold, particularly for the Royal Guard and the Temple even though, at the time at least, he belonged to neither. Three days hense and upon arriving in the Temple District again, Aedoran spied a strange warrior clad in full Ebony armor. He couldn't help but fear as a strange chill crept through him, as if he had fought this warrior in other lives and had lost. So, for the time being, he avoided that warrior and took a wide berth around him. The local traders, pawn brokers, and tavern keepers found him buying up all their stock of Sujamma, Mazte, Flin, and Shein until he was almost over burdened with them.

Days later the Nerevarine had found himself in the Temple District where the strange Ebon clad warrior stood and cautiously approached. Chills and apprehension ebbed from the man into his soul as the warrior turned to greet him. He revealed it was none other than Gaenor himself! He had used his new found wealth to purchase great armor and weapons as-well-as an enchanted amulet that fortified his luck to RIDICULOUS HEIGHTS! The two drew swords and set at each other with great ferocity but Aedoran found his skills failed him! His legendary strength, speed, and agility failed him as his endurance was tested! In a blind panic the fabled Nerevarine consumed TWENTY SIX Mazte, TWENTY FIVE Sujamma, 10 whole bottles of Shein, a Flin, and four health potions IN AN INSTANT! Blind panic faltered to drunken rage as the raw strength of Tiber Septim himself filled The Nerevarine! The first swing missed. As did the second but as the third swing connected, it was as if the cackle of Mehrunes Dagon rang out and Malacath and Boethia flinched as that unholy, god-killing, Akaviri/Daedric blade made contact with Gaenor's shield. His arm shattered, his shield sundered, and his body rent in twain the immense luck of the Wood Elf Gaenor had finally ran out. His agonized cry was heard by those of the Temple as he fell like a stone... and then silence. Gaenor was killed, immediately.

It was then, in desperation, Aedoran had solemnly discovered that erroneous amounts of alcohol abuse was the key to slaying Demi-Gods. Thus he noted his victory in his journal and moved on.

I killed Gaenor once at level 1 using the Ring of Toxic Cloud. It was pretty cheap to kill him that way, but I wanted his necklace early on.

It wasn't TERRIBLY expensive to do it how I did it, though I guess more comparitively to the amount of money I had because it did still cost a hundred or two here and there. But he is still a fight you gotta kinda cheese one way or another.

Cool approach, good original out of the box thinking to eliminate that ungrateful creep.

I wouldn't say original. I looked up that bastard and watched some Youtube videos. I was just so amused at what happened when I repeated the steps that I figured "Screw it. I'll write a story about it." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAMmbuX08qs

Still well done. Write some more - Steam can use a few more fan fic writers and Morrowind is a great venue for it.
