Here are Usefull Console Commands for New Players (casuals?)
Its no secret that you either love morrowind or hate it, the people that love it had the stamina to grind through the tireing journal tracking and grueling beginnings of the game with seemingly endless weapon misses to your foe untill they reached a decent weapon skill lvl.

Sadly most of the people that hate it or express their dislike for Morrowind barely get far enough into the game to appreciate it, they think those wepon misses are forever and the journal sucks, but that is not so, they just need time to get to that lvl of appreation for the game. By all means use the UESP.net/wiki site to look up quest when your stuck though the journal index and active quest list is usually sufficient for keeping track of them especially if you are a very attentive person.

Here are some usefull console commands i picked out from the list of console commands on UESP.net/wiki that I think are the best commands for new users to use in order achieve a higher familluarity with Morrowind in the beginnings of the game. In hopes that they will allow more functionallity to keep newer players interrested in the game longer in the beginning; thus giving them more time to get the feel for Morrowind.

WARNING!!!
[ I do not proclaim to know the console commands very well and some ive only used briefly just to test it before posting here, I know that using some of the console cammands can really screw your game up, and your save file if you saved after using a console command so be carefull!]. However I did pick the safest ones for new players and the first six will likely never cause any harm to your game or save file.

I chose 12 commands, the first six are the most usefull and safest in order by usefullness without technically cheating. The later 6 I would consider technically cheeting but not god-mode or serious cheating, but they are usefull as given my explanation for each below. This was copy and pasted from uesp.net but some discriptions i added to or replaced completely so i cant take credit for all the discriptions.

Each start off with the actuall command which you can use in the console by hitting the ~ key then typing the command or you can use the quick abbreviation between the '- -' such as the RA for ResetActors command

ResetActors - RA - Resets every NPC's location to where it originally was. Sometimes npc's move alittle most commonly seen where the Silt Strider or boat travel npc's may fall down from a dock where they were standing on or an npc is standing on an item you want to pick up, this will reset every npc in the zone you use it.

ToggleFullHelp - TFH - Show you ownership and script of objects you look at. Useful for checking if an item is stolen and knowing who to avoid selling stolen items to.

FixMe - Move player 128 units away from current location. (The collision detection sometimes goes wrong in tight places and pins you down to one spot. This will mostly get you out.)

StreamMusic "<Filename>" - Plays the specified sound or music file. Note: The directory and filename will have to be input, otherwise music will be selected at random. For example: type "explore/filename.mp3. Filenames are case sensitive as well so be sure to get the case and spacing between words (if any spacing is there.) correct. Plays the given music file. (Doesn't need to be mp3, wav or mid will work as well.) (I personally have not been able play a file in a directory other than the main morrowind music directory "Morrowind\Data Files\Music", but if you put whatever music file you want to hear while playing the game you can put it there and use this command just fine.). This will reset the Music volume to max however so you will have to manually adjust the music volume in the options menu after using this command.

ToggleDebugText - TDT - Displays various debug texts on the screen, such as position & video framerate.

Getpos [x, y, or z] - Gives the coordinates of the player/object on the map, which helps when you’re attempting to find something that's listed by its coordinates. Use each coordinate x, y, or z one at a time example; Getpos x will show your x position, Getpos y will show your y position and so on.

------------------THE ONES I DEEMED "TECHNICALLY" CHEATING------------------
ToggleFogOfWar - TFOW - Turns the fog of war in the automap display on and off. Useful for taking screenshots of complete maps with no ‘black’ areas in them.

FillMap - Show all the towns on the full map.

Lock [Level] - Locks the currently selected lock (door or container) at whatever lock [Level] you input. To select an object, open the console and click the object to select it (you’ll see its name in the console title bar). Can be used to lock a chest after youve unlocked it so you can pick it again to gain security skill XP.

Resurrect - When used on corpse, resurrects it. NPCs that are dead from the beginning of game are not resurrected. Open the console and select the npc or creature to resurrect, when a NPC is resurrected they get all their items back. Can be used on other creatures to kill then resurrect to kill it again to gain weapon skill XP. This includes the player if the player -> prefix is used. However, resurrecting the player is known to cause issues, including resetting the spellbook so not a good idea!.

SetPCCrimeLevel [Value] - Sets your Bounty to [Value]. For example, “SetPCCrimeLevel 0” would clear you of your crimes. Usefull if you accidentally stole something or struck an npc in public, if your quick enough you can enter this command and clear your name before a guard gets you. I think whichever npc seen you steal something this command will not change their dispositions toward you so you will likely still have a negative disposition with those npc's.

Setpos [x, y, or z] - Allows the absolute positioning of objects within the cell(interior), or the world cell(exterior). Objects positioned in this manner may or may not retain these positions after a load/reload event. I havent used this in detail but i can see being usefull for decorating your house (when you get one in game or by a house mod),for example if you want to set a lantern up high to make it look like its hanging from something. you will have to set the item roughly where you want it then use the Getpos command to get its coordinates then play around with this Setpos command untill you get it just right, alternatively you can just stack items then put the lantern on top then remove the stacked items and the lantern will remain.
